Timing advance

I have a 2014. I am going to put a b pipe on it and keep the CDI stock. My understanding is that MSD enhancers advance the timing a little. Would it be worth it for me to reposition the stator for a little advance or should I just leave it alone? I'm not sure how much of a difference this makes but if it's significant then I will do it since it's like a free upgrade. Please let me know someone who really knows

a stock cdi advances timing with rpm
a msd enhancer retards timing with rpm
so yes advance the stock stator w/stock cdi about 3/16 in
but when you put on a hi comp head get the enhancer

I advance mine by up to 3 deg with an Enhancer but all I ride is surf and I never do WOT runs for more than a few seconds at a time. I would not recommend any advance with an Enhancer if you do any WOT runs.

What's wrong with running a high compression head with stock cdi? I plan on a head at some point too but only going to 180 compression. 35cc domes

Did you notice much of a difference with advancing?

he might just be ok if he uses the limited chamber and doesn't under prop it
stock cdi limiter is about 6900-6950 rpm
if he props it about 6700-6750 rpm will be fine for now

The MSD has a different timing curve in addition to a higher rev limiter so there's more than one benefit to upgrading. That being said, advancing the static timing by 2-3 degrees and bumping the OEM rev limiter is a pretty cheap way to gain some power if you can't afford an A/M ignition to go with your pipe.
