I wish I didn't have overhead, then I would sell parts cheap! ...but reality is that my rent, insurance, electric, gas ,resin, taxes and everything associated with doing bussiness has gone up and on top of it and my wife needs more money to come in!
WTF!

move to ohio and make/sell parts... it is cheaper! :)

I will even help you move... but then you would never get me out of your shop... and it's cold as hell right now... maybe not such a good idea for you after all... :)

There's the correct answer right there!!! These individuals selling knockoffs cheap are able to because they don't pay rent, employees and their benefits, tax, sponsor riders and events. It's easy to say a pair of tubbies has 20 dollars worth of material in it and that the price Blowsion charges is a ripoff until you factor these costs in. When's the last time you saw any of the knockoff guys throwing stuff in for the Daytona raffle. That's the raffle that makes the donation to charity possible. Without that donation, the beach patrol would not waste an entire weekend keeping the beach open to jeskiers only. Ripoff artists don't pay for inventory like real companies do either. It costs money to have all the little stuff a a customer may potentially need sitting on the shelf. At almost any time, you can call Blowsion and order a set of tubbies, a rideplate, an OEM hoodseal, and a set of pump bearings and 9 times out of 10 all of the items will be in stock. The prices may seem a little high, but what would it cost if you ordered each part from a different vendor and paid shipping for each item. That's the value of some of these larger companies.

I bought some knockoff tubbies, I can't afford $275 for them. But $100 sounded way better. Afterall it is all in how you install/use them. Sometimes you are only buying a name. But i believe in OEM. I am on MX6.com all the time and we have the same problems with knock off crap. I would pay for it if i could.

I can afford the real parts, Id rather make my own, or buy cheaper knockoffs and spend the difference on fuel, or beer.

its actually not as easy to rip a copy of something as you might think, I am trying to make myself a lowered hood. give it a try, you will have a little respect for what goes into the stuff, the hours to rip it and make are stupid let alone try and do it from scratch. figured I could pop a copy of my stocker and chop it up that way if it didn't turn out I didn't loose my hood. still working on it. maybe I just suck with glass.

everyone can agree the materials are cheap, the labor is enormous. also the boat people at the fiberglass store said 10% change is the minimum legal.

Nothing wrong with making your own parts or for friends or even to sell as long as they are not direct clones and they serve a purpose to someone. By serve a purpose I mean, make them affordable to someone who otherwise couldnt afford them, or make a difference over the other parts that are available via other aftermarket vendors. This is my opinion, I bought 2 different ride plates from 2 different manufacturers and HATED BOTH so I took the best of both and made a mold. I will sell these to my friends at a reduced price and probably some on here to recover some costs and maybe make my 2 plate FREE in the end to pay for my labor. Is that WRONG?????? Toby is doing the same with chin pads for the SAME REASONS. Is that wrong????? We also did the same with foot holds IS THAT WRONG? We need to do the same with a nose piece only because the 2 WAMILTONS HIGH DOLLAR nose pieces we have had BREAK, SO IS THIS WRONG???????? I dont get it, without this type of thing going on NO ONE WOULD EVER get started making hoods, hulls or any other aftermarket parts for this industry, I think it all started just the same way as above. Just because WDK did it 1st or WHOEVER did it 1st doesnt make it taboo to everyone else. We now have 6 molds for mostly personal use and they are not direct knock offs IS THAT WRONG?????

That being said, I disagree with DIRECT knock offs for $20 less then the original and wouldn't purchase them, But for $200 less I am all over it. That serves a purpose IMO!!!!!

I bought a WDK REV because it is DIFFERENT and NOT A SJ KNOCK OFF and the price was affordable, no different then what we do in our own garage on a MUCH smaller scale.
