So I've been running 31:1 for the past year and I'm pretty sure it's a little on the heavy side, when my ski is sitting I the trailer oil drips out of the exhaust.... Pretty sure that's just a waste or oil and not very healthy for the water.... 32:1 is what the engine builder told me too run, any thoughts of running 40:1

I run 40:1 with Klotz syn/castor blend. I've ran that for years and after I tore a couple engines down after a few years for inspections they looked amazingly great.

keep it at 32:1

thats how it was designed to run

More oil helps keep the rings pushed out into the bore therefore helping maintain the desired compression numbers. Long story short, I am willing to do anything to get every last oz of Hp out of my motor I can and I run my gas oil ratio at 32:1 because IMO, it creates that last oz of Hp.

It must have been that last oz of hp that almost ripped my arms out of their sockets in Orange beach, lol.

I've had the same problem with the oil dripping out the exhaust tube in the past, Turned out to be a leaking needle and seat in the carbs allowing extra gas to sit inside the water box acting like a solvent. The gas cleans all the oil and sludge from the inside of the water box and turns into a nasty mess that drips out the exhaust tube. Might be worth a few mins to check the needle and seats, even the smallest fiber, hair, spec of sand can cause them to leak. Hope this helps

TCW3 and most racing synthetic or castor will leave an oily exhaust on a watercraft. This may be messy but is good for corrosion protection. Standups seldom get hot enough to burn up much oil since they are at part throttle a lot. Cheap API-TC or JASO spec oil will leave more dry soot in the exhaust.

I forgot!
Some synthetic oils like interceptor are meant to be premixed at 50:1. That is what I run in every 2 stroke I got. Even my old vintage sled (24:1) and outboard, weedeater, chainsaw, minibikes, banshee, superjet etc etc. all 50:1. Less is more.

Have you tried a different oil at the same mix ratio? I cycled thru a couple different oils trying to use up all the leftover oil from my snowmobile and seadoo and I found some leaked out more than others.

I am now running the TCW-3 oil that my engine builder reccomends and I very seldom have any oil spots on the floor anymore.

EDIT: I just cleaned up my ski after a day in the surf and I realized that another thing that is different is my routine before i put my ski back in the garage. After a day of riding freshwater I would run the ski to burp all the water out of the exhaust. After a day in the surf I flush out the ski and run it on the hose for a couple of minutes. This flushes out alot of unburnt oil from the exhaust and I wash it down the driveway instead of it dripping out on my garage floor.
