if you're not in the City Limits, you can pretty much light off any type of firework in Wisconsin. There's a fireworks stand right here in Madison that sells all the good stuff during June/July. I grew up going to a dude that sold fireworks out of his garage, he put on shows professionally. My favorite were over-sized firecrackers; They could blow up a pop can, but not blow your finger off! My buddy put one in his toilet(no he didn't flush) and blew it to fing pieces, ahh growing up. Roman candle and bottle rocket wars for life!

It blows my mind how in GA everyone is about GUNS GUNS GUNS and has this massive collection firearms, but you aren't allowed to have any decent fireworks. Not sure how it is in the North. I know there are starting to pass laws in favor of it, but I always thought it was funny. It's like they are illegal because they know a lot more Darwin awards would be handed out or something.

We say coke for all varieties of soft drinks...but the "Dixie champaign" of them all is the genuine article...Coca-Cola.

Yep. Pepsi is just another kind of coke.....a crappy kind. My grandmother used to call all refrigerators a fridgidaire too, regardless of the brand. I guess it's just another southern thing. Doesn't make a lot of sense though. By that logic we should call every car a Ford.

WTf is pop?
Pop is a sound. Some people call every variety of carbonated beverage "pop" up north.

We had friends who grew up in Michigan and moved to st louis. Though they used to call it 'pop' they were immediately adamant that its 'soda' now.

Tell that to the man himself!^^^ Haha I use Pop interchangeably with Soda. I'll ask for a soda but it comes in a pop-can. I used to work for Pepsi, but I've always drank Coca-Cola(Mexi-cokes are the best!)

I am curious why the south so great when they lead the nation in HATE groups. Does the sun make you angry? But then i see people from there who are so dumb they fly a confederate flag, partake in "coning," and think they have to own a gun because it makes them safe. The same people argue that Alaska is an island, just look at a map!
But seriously why all the hate groups?

I have lived a few places in the US, travelled a bit, and if i could afford it, i would head back to the northeast. Pretty sure there is a reason you need guns down south...to protect your remaining teeth. Only a southern fanboy starts threads with titles that promote their tiny, worldview. When you feel the need to declare a King, well, then we've all lost a little something that used to make this country great.

I'll bite on this one... even though you've back pedaled some claiming its tongue in cheek.

IMO (as a southerner)... POC (People of Color) generally don't like the cold. So in the south we have a higher concentration, not to mention Texas bordering Mexico and Florida so close to Cuba... we're all aware of the immigration issues we're faced with (and have little to no support from the white house to combat.) Illegal Immigrants absolutely have a negative effect on local economies. So if you agree that we have a higher percentage of POC, then look at the poverty rate amongst POC. It's much higher than the Caucasian demographic (per capita). Areas with higher poverty rates generally have higher crime rates, drug use etc.

So what can we deduce from the above statements?

1. POC typically prefer to live in a southern climate
2. Illegal Immigration typically occurs in the south more than the north (TX, FL, AZ)
3. Illegal Immigrants hurt jobs and local economies
4. POC are unfortunately burdened with a higher poverty rate
5. Poverty and Crime typically go hand in hand.
6. Nobody likes having their stuff stolen or being robbed etc.

So yes, we have a higher propensity for hate groups in the south (not proud of that by any means) and we have higher crime rates in some areas which motivates some to qualify for a CHL and exercise that right daily. Because statics show that when gun ownership (and CHL carriers) go up, crime goes down. Conversely, areas with more gun control (Chicago) have much higher violent crime because residents are denied the right to arm themselves.

I mean, its not like people up north are battling a sea of Canadian's crossing the border to take all your jobs....

In my view it comes down to one thing, culture. Who you are and how you were raised. POC is not the single issue.

Up here we have the Hmong, and most of them are hard working legal immigrants. They have big family's and they support each other. They're not known for being at the welfare line, they're known for eating all the fish I won't out of the river. I grew up with 2nd generations, most of them are assimilated citizens already. They remind me of my European immigrants, get to America, get a job, have a big family, assimilate to fit in! Legally!

When I lived in Minnesota the Somalis were not the same. They weren't here to get jobs or have big families. Too many are real criminals, and when they went back to Somali to become pirates in 2008 you know they're NOT real "refugees". Refugees don't go back home....

The Mexicans up here mostly resemble the Hmong, except they're not all legal. I'm sure plenty of them are, but how can you tell without asking or even worse offending them, Sad.

Both of my grandmas came from a German familys of 11 and 13. One side had they're father leave them and they all turned out to be productive citizens(raised during the depression by one mother). They were poor and never robbed their neighbors.

CULTURE is what was taken from the Native Americans, people of the slave trade, and "White trash" they're all still recouping from losing their culture.

enough with the sociology, hate groups are everywhere. I hate sit downs :)

Truth be told, they're taking the lower income labor positions. Construction obviously comes to mind. So no, my job is not in danger by any means.
But its not just the job. Its the reinvestment of income into the local economy. I buy local, pay my taxes, etc etc etc. They send half their untaxed income back to their families in another country.
If a legal laborer we're to have that job (pick a nationality, it doesn't matter) and they get taxed like the rest of us, and have their family in this country, kids going to the schools they pay for the economic landscape as a result is much different.

How about this example (I didn't write, this and I don't think its 100% accurate but it makes a good point as long as you don't scrutinize the details like exact $/hour. The concept is sound.)

JOE LEGAL vs. JOSE ILLEGAL

You have two families: "Joe Legal" and " Jose Illegal".
Both families have two parents, two children, and live in California .

Joe Legal works in construction, has a Social Security Number and makes $25.00 per hour with taxes deducted.

Jose Illegal also works in construction, has NO Social Security Number, and gets paid $15.00 cash "under the table".

Ready? Now pay attention...

Joe Legal: $25.00 per hour x 40 hours = $1000.00 per week, or $52,000.00 per year. Now take 30% away for state and federal tax; Joe Legal now has
$31,231.00.

Jose Illegal: $15.00 per hour x 40 hours = $600.00 per week, or $31,200.0 0 per year. Jose Illegal pays no taxes. Jose Illegal now has
$31,200.00.

Joe Legal pays medical and dental insurance with limited coverage for his family at $600.00 per month, or $7,200.00 per year. Joe Legal now
has $24,031.00.

Jose Illegal has full medical and dental coverage through the state and local clinics at a cost of $0.00 per year. Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00.

Joe Legal makes too much money and is not eligible for food stamps or welfare. Joe Legal pays $500.00 per month for food, or $6,000.00 per
year.. Joe Legal now has $18,031.00.

Jose Illegal has no documented income and is eligible for food stamps and welfare. Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00.

Joe Legal pays rent of $1,200.00 per month, or $14,400.00 per year. Joe Legal now has $9,631 .00.

Jose Illegal receives a $500.00 per month federal rent subsidy. Jose Illegal pays out that $500.00 per month, or $6,000.00 per year. Jose Illegal still has $ 31,200.00.

Joe Legal pays $200.00 per month, or $2,400.00 for insurance. Joe Legal now has $7,231.00.

Jose Illegal says, "We don't need no stinkin' insurance!" and still has $31,200.00.

Joe Legal has to make his $7,231.00 stretch to pay utilities, gasoline, etc.

Jose Illegal has to make his $31,200.00 stretch to pay utilities, gasoline, and what he sends out of the country every month..

Joe Legal now works overtime on Saturdays or gets a part time job after work.

Jose Illegal has nights and weekends off to enjoy with his family.

Joe Legal's and Jose Illegal's children both attend the same school. Joe Legal pays for his children's lunches while Jose Illegal's children get
a government sponsored lunch. Jose Illegal's children have an after school ESL program. Joe Legal's children go home.

Joe Legal and Jose Illegal both enjoy the same police and fire services, but Joe paid for them and Jose did not pay.

Do you get it, now?

I think Jose illegal should go back to wherever he came from and stop leaching off our already broke gubmint. I'm sick of footing the bill for these drains on society.
