I used to tow an SJ and 550 behind the civic. Trailer was nothing to look at but I made and installed an extendable tongue so when I got to the lake I could extend it out another 6ft for launching in the shallower water.

I've been towing a B1 and SJ with a WRX for 3 years so far no problems. The small bike hitch only has a 200lb tonged, just have to watch how I weight the trailer

My first tow rig was a full SCCA legal autocross CRX SI. I remember getting pulled over for going um lets say "over the speed limit" in rain pulling a double trailer with two Sea Doo Xp's, and the cop said "All I know is how fast the Sea Doo's were going, I never saw the car!" Still got over 28 mpg pulling all that weight.
