Super Jet Trick's 1st SN build

Been rocking a modded 550sx and figured it was time to step up. Picked up a cheap 90 superjet. The 650 runs good but isn't anything too impressive.

A friend has some 760 pistons, so I picked up a 61x cylinder, protec pipe, and 701 head. I'm planning on throwing these in. Sending CDI to OCD for a rev limiter mod, installing 08+ impeller,

I've already put some blowsion bars on, plan on doing the hood mod while motor is getting worked, debating on doing footholds and foam while I'm at it.

I want to say you would need a 62t cyl to use 760 Pistons... Max bore on 61x is only 1mm over. But not 100% on that
64x cylinder uses 84mm pistons. You can run 84mm pistons on stock 61x sleeves but that's pretty close to your last bore(3mm over).
I would recommend porting your 61x cylinder rather than boring it out. More bang for your buck to be had there. Plus, you could port it yourself with a template and bore out your cylinder too, but it's not worth the money just to bore it out to your last bore. A well ported 61x cylinder would satisfy you.

It all depends on your budget.. So what is your budget?
A high compression head is a must.

Let's say under $1000 into motor to give a number. Correct me if I misunderstood, but I thought putting a stock 701 head on the 760 piston was a poor man's way of getting higher compression?
I could port and bore cylinder. The way I looked at it was, if I want any bigger in future I'm sleeving it anyways so does it matter going biggest I can on stock sleeve? If I trash the cylinder, I'm only out $50 and my time to port it.
But I'm new to this engine, so I welcome any suggestions.

Took it for its final ride as a 650

So ended up porting case, cylinder, and doing 84mm pistons. It feels good, probably needs some more tuning. Ski likes to jump out of the water when power comes on instead of going forward. Not sure issue on this yet.

I put a marine epoxy resin over the bottom hull and I'm starting to think its too slick (if that's possible). The ski corners horribly in my opinion. It has no feel when trying to cut a buoy. There is no sweet spot to keep it from washing out low side or high siding over. I'm pretty new to jet ski handling comprehension but I can't come up with anything else. I've ridden two other SN and RN and they dont feel like this ski. Going to sand the bottom hull to get some scratches in it and probably pick up some ProWaterforce front sponsons.

Thanks!

Took it out last night to see if sanding the bottom helped... It made it halfway across the lake and died. Appears to have no spark now. Fun, fun.

I also picked up a RN chin pad and cut it to better fit the SN hood.

Welcome to the life my friend. Get used to wrenching. If your a new rider it could be porpoising due to your riding position on the ski. How did you do your port work?
