Super Jet Tubbies

Dan I recently put Destroyers on my roundnose. I consider myself a pretty good surf rider. They make the ski absolutely much more surf rideable. You can get deeper in any wave. You can drop in late and steep and the ski doesnt try to nose under nearly as much. The destroyers are great. Oh yeah if you dont know who I am its the old guy from Ormond Beach. Whats UP

Take no offense, but I can't place your face! "old guy" applies to so many of us!

Thanks for the input.
You described the issues that I've been having to a "T". Coming in steep and late is what I'm used to. I've had to change that.
It makes me feel like I'm not being aggressive enough with the wave/myself. But the alternative (without tubbies..evidently) is rolling in the surf risking sinking.

It still amazes me that such a subtle change (shortened pole) can make such a huge difference. Great in all regards except dropping in.

Dan I am the old guy from Ormond. My name is Bill. Black 2005 superjet. I live in Ormond near Nick. I ride your spot occasionally. I guess you cant go wrong with any tubbies cause they will be better than none at all but I really like my destroyers. Take a little getting used to but much more fun wave riding overall. Call Blowsion order them up. Its kinda cold now good time to put them on.

Cool!

I've not yet made a decision. But I'm torn between #Zero's and Destroyers.
Zero is much more affordable,(this matters!) and guys that I ride with love his tubbies.

The destroyers, after viewing some pics, do have more meat forward. That is important for my pearling issues.

recently i tried two different skis that were very similar to mine but they had destroyers instead of the tubbie Is. After riding them I felt that the destroyers were actually too big/bouyant..made the front end ride too high and it felt like i couldn't push the front end into turns/set a rail like i do on my ski...if i were to build another one id definitely go with the tubbie Is even though they are way more work to install...

Anyone know where there is a tutorial on how to install glass on tubbies?
I'm quite good at glass work but want to see a step by step guide so I can bypass 1st time installation mistakes.
Thanks-Scott

If u buy them from blowsion they have instructions It's pretty easy. Just make sure to mount them as LOW as possible as in flush with the bottom of the ski they reccomend mounting them up a 1/4

Tubbie I brief install over view
pretty simple prep the hull with red scotch brite i used a more agresive sand paper because i new i would be painting the hull, throw some glue 5200 at the tubbie, screw them down, fix the damage from screwing them down (the ccracks), i used urathane to make them seamless, fill, prime and paint.
thats the basics these arent glass on but they are seamless.
hope that helps

i will be honest we prolly did more damage than good on the initial install as my buddy (pictured) and i where pretty loose when we glued them on, as a result we cracked the heck out of them. these needed to be bent in to fit the contoure of the hull so there was alot of pressure pushing against the screws.

these have held up great for the two years they have been on.

I did my first #.Zero set flush, ski rode fine but had the low speed wobble and wasn't as stable wfo.

Now I just installed another set on my new surf ski, mounted them up about 1/4 to 1/8 and it made the ski perfect IMO , no wobble, wfo no problem, feels great surfing the wave.

Dan need to ride my Blk SJ, 701 motor, poles not tight, so it should be close to your setup.

if you are into waveriding that "low speed wobble" aircraft is talking about actually helps when u are in the really steep part of the wave...it allows the front end to wonder a little bit...if it grabs too much it will set u off balance...ive ridden a few skis with them mounted up and i could definitely feel the difference...you totally get used to them and once u have it dialed in it makes a sj feel like its on rails...

On the destroyers just make sure they are all the way up toutching the bond rail, you can move them fwd a bit if you want them flush on the bottom, this will ensure the bolts are not taking all the load when the hull impacts the water.

Interesting, cause that low-med speed front wobble is what I want to get rid of...

Hopefully the destroyers help...

Went for my first ride sunday with my new blowsion destroyers on and im stocked!...Didnt take long to get used to them and made riding the face so much better.

Should of done this years ago lol.
