Turfing questions for SN

I'm sure you guys have heard this a million times and you'll probably have tons of links, but I'm lazy, and yes I do know how to use the search function(just wanna build up my posts) :dunce: I bought a mat, the typical 40x60, and I wanted to turf the tray chinpad, bulkhead and trim rails (pardon my possible wrong terminology) Is there a template that somebody knows about? I'm thinking about just temporarily attaching the mat to the sides (velcro) because I'm gonna sell it later and wanna leave the option for someone to put footholds in it. i would but I dont have the time or money right now

Anyone that puts footholds in will typically defoam the ski while they're at it. There are no templates as said before so break out the measuring tape, hair dryer, and contact cement and get to work... It's a tedious job and if you want to save money and do it right, you're going to have to use that search button. There is a wealth of information on here and you're going to want most of it to make it look decent.

The best way to get your turf to fit right without footholds is to create your own template out of some butcher paper. Make it a little bit big if you are not sure and do the fine tuning after most of it has been glued with a sharp razor blade and a straight edge.

If you are going to be putting it over footholds I don't think that there is a good way to template it since there are so many curves. There are a few really good how-to threads showing the process that will save you a lot of frustration.

Velcro will not work very well and will probably look pretty bad too.

You won't have enough to do the rails in one sheet. I have done tray, dash, and pole pad in one kit, but I didn't have anything left. Plan carefully or you will run out.
Velcro will not work at all.
DAP contact cement.

heat gun as your pulling around the corners.
that's the idea I've been hearin. I was hoping that i could get around it so that I didn't have to buy a heat gun:grumble:. Do I lay the cement down, heat, and press as I go, or do I form it with the heat gun then glue it? I cant wait to get this done so I can break in the motor and then sell it. ha!

hey man i did my rails, chin pad, dash and tray out of one piece of b-stock. you just have to be really careful and think real far ahead before you make the first cut.

crab has been posting a link to a 10.95 harbor frieght heat gun in the last 6 or 7 turfing threads... no reason not to own one at that price.

Cement both sides per directions, allow to dry till when you toutch it your hand does not stick, it sticks on contact so go slow, heat turf to go around curves, take your time don't rush. Heat slow and even where needed, not so hot it melts, but just to where you need gloves to handle it.

Just plain me....
It is called a heat gun for a reason...lol DO NOT let the tip of the gun touch any surface, especially skin !!! I still have a nice round scar on my arm from an unwanted encounter.

:aargh4:crap!!!! I totally :):):)kkkkkkkkeddddd the right side up. Damn I'm a noob!! as you may notice at the top of the pic there is a bump that I couldn't get to sit down without looking sheity and I cut too much of the side before I glued it so I hacked in a piece. any suggestions on this f-up?
