Uh oh! Throttle plate screw is gone

Went to prime my carbs to start before go out today and noticed one plate screw missing. My question, are the reeds holding it, or did it cycle through motor? Checked piston through spark hole, checked compression, everything seems to be okay.

The results are in, damaged front piston, holds compression same as other. I think it's had 1 hour + running like that, and it's still pulls me into back flops. Anything wrong running it like this? If it's not disrupting function (I assume) then f*ck it right?

It's the possible damage to the crank that you cannot see and will not show up in a compression test...if it was a 701, I'd run it, not so much on a Dasa 1L.

Wouldn't you think that if it passed through the intake port, combusted and went out the exhaust port, that would be the end of it. Was such a small screw, it would have either hung out, or blasted through, in which it did.

I am pretty much saying, is that I assume that it probably would have taken the crank out already, instead peppered the piston and left, with the very unlikely chance it still exist. I've been through so much hell with this motor, that anymore down time this early might just end my ski love. It's run too good to just pull it after its likely ran 1 to 2 hours in such state.

Thanks for all your replies, I have 4 run its and 2 don't, and I believe everyone knows what they are talking about, just it's a gamble as with any motor with just the smallest problem.

I say no risk it no biscuit. If it blows up you can always wish it hadn't. But on the other hand new gaskets and seals and cheap and opening it up for inspection won't keep you down nearly as long as a grenaded engine. Tough decision.

Cleaned it up, cylinders look good, piston and dome got the worst. I am betting the whole screw passed by all the lower danger and wreaked havoc on the top.

Well, put on 2 hours since and pulling like a train. Maybe there'll be a TOLD YOU moment, but sounds like the damage is done. Close this up, thanks for all the input guys. I've ran peppered domes before, now it has a matching piston.
