i give it up to the rescue guys, its a tuff job and all that and i appreciate them being there but.......

this is what pissed me off about the situation.

dont get on a mic and explain to us that there will be step by step process that 1) we will rescue you and take you to your ski if it is still floating, if it is not then we will take you to the beach. 2) we will rescue the boat and bring it to the beach. 3) have fun...... soooo when did everything go out the window to where they go back to the beach to tell tanner IF HE WANTS HIS SKI HE HAS TO GET IT!??!!? then gaph him in the hand because the driver is a :):):):):) and gassed his craft out of the way of a wave when tanner HAD his ski when he should have put that thing in reverse and pinned it but hooked him and then drags him aaaalllllll the way to the beach then DOESNT EVEN SAY SORRY.... that could have been my friends :):):):)ing neck! I SWEAR TO GOD if we were out there on skis this would have never happened.

skis are replaceable but friends arnt.

Rant Over

EDIT

another thing those fools were sssssoooooooo slow to getting to people i lost my ski in the first heat and Wes had time to see me, come grab me, and take me to my ski... thank god for my brotha wes!

This was a very unfortunate day. However it could have been worse.
thank you all so much for the support and kind word's to Tanner and yes he is bummed but he wont let it break his spirit.
I would like to say that the accident is being reviewed by the proper people, your safety is very important to them.
There will be changes made and they will have a better plan.
Looking forward to Surf Slam 2012 hope to see all of you there

I would think if they didn't get the ski the first time, try again, and again if necessary. They knew what to expect when they signed on.

Does one not generally look back at whoever your towing when you decide to pin it on a ski? Was tan man such a trooper that he didn't wince in pain after being gaffed?

Just saying

the moral of the story is never leave your ski....

you cant rely on someone else to get it for you...even if your buddies have a tow rope when your ski is fully sunk and its 10ft+ you are just going to end up sinking both skis or hurting someone...

just keep weight on the tray and kick your legs and you will eventually make it to the beach...ive lost my hood in big waves...took me probably an hour to get in but i did it...there was nothing anybody could do to help..

if you arnt in good enough shape or experienced enough to take 100waves on the head while you swim your ski in you dont belong out there..not saying thats the case in this situation but your jetski can get you in situations that you arnt prepared for in the ocean that you wouldn't be able to otherwise...another reason not to wear shoes in the ocean...you cant swim in them...

Is NOT about you being in shape to withstand the God's wrath.
Is about making sure ALL corners are covered.
What about the ski landing on your head rendering you unconscious? Or Broken Arm or leg?
What about then....

how is it not about being in shape???..if you cant swim for an hour and a half while having to hold your breath everytime you get pounded then you arnt going to get your ski back...

it also has allot to do with being experienced in the ocean..when u panic you drown...period

if your worried about your ski landing on your head or breaking an arm then you shouldnt be jetskiing in the ocean..thats just a risk that everybody that does this has to take...the same thing can happen when you are just riding??...im missing your point..should i cover my jetski in bubble wrap to cover ALL corners as you say????? lol

obviously your buddies should keep an eye on you...have you tried towing a fully sunk ski in 10ft waves before???

Hey,
Chit happens and you die, everyone knows that....that's life.

When I host a party at my house I make sure my guests are taken care of while they are attending the party.
Food, beverages, kids area, parking outside, etc...WHY? Because I want them to have a pleasant experience.
Are you able to see the point now :dunno:???????......right about.....there.....

I love blowsion, I love the X, I love riding in big surf, I love trees, I love my ski, I love my wife, I love long walks on the bea...................Sorry back to the topic or what I was thinking, really too bad loss of property and possible loss of rider uncovers the poor planning for safety or uninformed, unskilled safety crew. Not here bash anyone Glad Tanner will recover and that this will hopefully be the worst or last time something like this happens.

Not condoning any bad stuff but I am pretty sure that I would have destroyed the sitdown guy with my good hand on the beach. How long do you need to drag somebody before you realize they have no ski and are being GAFFED ???

It just so happened to be during a contest..any of the other 364 days in the year the same thing could have happened but he would have been on his own, the only people that would have been out there would have been on standups and like isaid before it is almost impossible to tow a fully sunk ski with another standup when it's big ..that's why u need to be able to handle the situation you put yourself in contest or not..I don't think it's the contest directors fault he lost his ski.

FYI the way u retrieve a sunk standup with a sit down is to pull it up backwards on the rescue sled..

My intentions were NEVER to blame anyone for the loss of the ski (see my original post).
I am merely pointing out some flaws I see. They may decide to revised these procedures or not.

When I host Thanks giving (The only ONE day of the year) you bet I better be prepared.
I get people from ALL sides of the family, even from other countries sometimes, kids and babies and all.

The rest of the 364 days.....if I host a party.....you are on your own :mischievous:

were not supposed to have to worry about this kind of stuff during a comp, having the rescue guys out there is incentive to risk it all. after this incident its obvious how on our own we are out there, at the biggest competition in the WORLD. i saw that hook last year and i knew it was a really bad idea, especially with the inexperienced rescue team. they have no tow training im sure of it. this whole thing is horrible and i hope the promoters make it right.
chin up tanner. your the only one involved that had their head on straight.
