I hate going to rides without my own ski. I've considered it in the past, and when the time is right I'll do it. Grad school keeps me busy and broke, unfortunately.

Then are you not equally responsible?

We could always bow out and let other countries host this fine event. Seems like that is what some of you are trying to make happen.
i figured the rescue team knew what they were doing, knew what kind of danger and liability they were messing with. im not going to let those guys help me in the future, im better off alone! anywhere other than the middle of nowhere, get some exposure, blow some minds, maybe get some corporate sponsors back. but thats a whole nother issue with the slam

Well unfortunately, accidents occur with even the most highly trained rescue teams possessing state of the art equipment, and improvements are always a continual process. If you (or anyone) ever believe you can offer knowledge, it is typically welcome and appreciated, dependent upon the manner in which it is being offered, understandably.

I think that is a great event out there, and when visiting I witnessed many fine attributes in the way of some seriously hard work, general organization, as well as safety; plus, loads of fun! That is what I like to remember, positive things, and I think that if you promote such things, more people will wish to visit as well.

very sorry to hear about this. i have had to swim and drag my sunken ski more times then i can remember. i don't understand why this had to happen though with so many people around? doesn't seem like anyone took any effort to get the ski after tanner was hurt. i know that with the small group of people i ride with this wouldn't have happened. i'm coming off an injury but will be back out there next weekend and will keep a lookout for it. was the ski registered? i don't know if you notified the state marine board but if somebody finds it and calls it in you should have a way for them to contact you since they don't communicate with other states and would only run the hin# through the state of Oregon.

I was wondering if a rider happens to get separated from his ski is there some type of device the rescuers could pull up and attach to a tow loop like a small inflatable airbag with a co2 cartridge? Could this even be feasible? What about having the rescuers kind of tail the riders so they could swoop in even faster. They did show up pretty quick from what I saw in the video.

The proper Authorities have been notified they have all the information on the ski including pic's etc. They are keeping an eye out for it. I have to admit it is still hard for me to grasp the fact considering how many people were there that this ski was allowed to get away. I watched the 2nd rescue boat keep an eye on it for 15 minutes never once attempting to grab it. Fact is the more I think about it the madder I get. I sure hope this is a lesson to all of you standup rider's go get your budddies ski because you have the skill's to do it. RANT

How likely do you guys think it will be that it will show up? Can they send out scuba guys or does it drift around pretty good?

Diving is pointless. It's very unlikely that it's still even in the same square mile.
It may show up dozens of miles up or down the coast.
