DK says 14" shorter and its called project "BOB"(Backflip On Budget). Says they been testing since November and 2 of their crew were back flipping it succesfully and one guy was nosing them in and it only had a ltd 701 engine.

Sounds exactly like both the EME Q8 and the Highroller stunt hull. The industry is definitely shifting their designs.

And its not able to go faster than 25-30mph without bucking the rider. Well done.

Fine by me. If I wanted to go faster, I'd get a couch. Max speed I'd estimate I ever hit a wake is about 20 and if I cruise around any faster than about 25, it's rare.

You'd want a -10 to -14 in the surf? Forget that... pfft.

One thing, what do you call a budget? Certainly not cheap,if that is what they are implying!

Well it wasn't too long ago when only the pro's were doing flat water backflips and their complete ski's were upwards of $40k or more and ran on very unique fuels. So even the $6k EME Q8 with a mag pump and stock SXR engine that Malone was showing off would be considered "budget" by comparison.

Then again Joe Schmo can afford a $35k bass boat and a $15k couch but can't even back it into the water.

i couldnt find any info on the ski clinic site about the hull. but i did see a 3800$$ 93 750sx. hahahah what a deal. lol

Here is the info from their facebook page:
Yamaha based Freestyle hull .. ( when I say yamaha based , I mean the pump tunnel is set up to mount a Yamaha pump )top and bottom deck - with hood, completely our own design top and bottom , no splash - not a superjet , not a sxr - all our own -
Just b.o.b
( backflip on a budget )
14 inches shorter than a SJ , 1 inch wider than an sxr , built in tubbies for extreme handling and stability - and superlight !! So far we have the bottom deck mold complete - and we expect to be done with the top deck by mid next week.
Our goal in pricing is to be in the neighborhood of $3500 - thats a finished complete hull with hood , polyester standard wet lay estimated hull weight of 55lbs- plumbed and ready for your power plant - ( other options available - i.e. carbon, etc )
We are considering a bottom deck that accomodates the kawi pump in the future as well.
Stay tuned for pix of the progress !!

Sounds like you want an undisputed opinion on what the best hull is and the undisputed answer is "there isn't". It's not that cut and dry. Since you're out of the US, your best bet is to specifically talk to people who own various aftermarket hulls and ask various questions. You'll then have to take the good and bad points of each hull and weigh the differences for yourself.

Odd.... as much of a supporter of the kawi driveshaft as I am. I would say its not a good choice for a torquey pump. Wonder why they are going to make that an option...

I like the idea of a shortened hull but with an optional extended ride plate with hull estensions on it. Basically a T shaped ride plate. I recently saw it available for the Q8.

That way if I am not in a BF mood I can still enjoy the ski.

What else are these hulls good for really,I mean are they even ridable for any kind of normal riding.Maybe its just me but how many guys out there just want to do backflips all day,I can see it as a second boat but not as a day in day out ride, IMHO of course.

seems like you could just modify a 300sx hull with a big pump, and engine, and make a backflip ski.
