Well I have never done a backflip but I shortened my SJ hull 3" and love it. The only exception is in the surf where the waves are crashing ever 3-4 seconds and then I only like it. It allows you to turn on a dime at slow speeds and work the back end of the ski much better...uhhh...in a non sexual way.
Seriously though, everyone keeps talking about this strange concept of using their ski in a "normal way". IMO normal is jumping waves/wake and playing around in hopes to get good enough to do backflips and barrel rolls. My idea of normal is far from cruising around or screaming down the lake at 50mph. However, it seems so many think that is normal though and mods that might make the ski unstable at 50mph, make it easier to maneuver at slow speeds, or allow the ski to slide are sac religious to this "normal riding" style. I don't get it... :thinking:
