UMI steering nut???

Do you not need a flat machined on the threads? Or is it a set screw with a nylon button on the end?

Just a flat end on the set screw.

:Banane01: Wouldn't this work? - its a castle nut used in the same way as the normal Nyloc nut, just drill a small hole throuh the shaft and use a cotter or split pin... allows adjustment for bearing wear and multiple tightness.

but you cant fine tune the nut as much.

True - its not infinate adjustability but its close enough with a correctly greased packed UMI steering system.. if you want even finer tuning just change the thickness of washer under the castle nut...
