Update:

Sent the hood out on the 8th arrived at the shop on the 11th.

Called the shop today, nothing has been done yet, which is ok because he wanted to go over something with me . Hopefully I will have it back by next weekend.

This stock hood BLOWS and keeps NO water out :raincloud:

I'm eager to see how it turns out.

Thanks again Steve.

Got the hood back from Steve last week but have not had a chance to get it back on the 'ski. Been down racint at Putnam Raceway in Indiana.

Steve, once again, thanks man! I was not expecting this to be fixed at all!

Feels a LOT more solid and looks a hell of a lot better then the previous method of bonding the two halfs together. Looks like epoxy with some fibers mixed in then leveled out.

Some pics of the fix:

I am glad Steve fixed it for you, that was way above any expectations anybody should ever expect on a 3-4 year old hood. Hoods take abuse, that is just part of it. Only hood I have ever had that did not show any real signs of abuse was my Blowsion JK hood, part of that may be the fact that I hated it for flat water riding. So, I rarely got on the hood at all. Plus the fact that it is beefy as hell. Not a lightweight by any means. Grifnasty has it now. My Wammer hood (really old style) has been glued a few times at the liner. But still going strong.

Stress cracks are often the result of too thick of a layer gelcoat. The characteristics of gelcoat does not allow it to flex much , especially when it is layed up thick. In the past, I used to use a dump gun to spray the gelcoat into the mold thus always resulting a thick layer of gel. Since then, I use a spray type gun that gives off a much more consistent layer of gel through out the part.

there is no perfect hood out there. The important thing is that you take care of the customer and stand behind your product.
It's just the way I do business.

It still only has light spider cracks in the paint/gel. I havent hucked it doing backys in 4' surf, but it s seen its fair share hard flatwater riding and still as when solid as i got it.

As for WCF, when ever i consider AM hulls, i'm going to be getting the one with the best warranty. looks like steves leading the pack :bananalama:
