Anyone have any idea how much urethane foam(2 part pourable) it takes to fill a tray?

2qrt should be enough. Soak the containers in hot water and use a space heater in your tray with a blanket or something thrown over it to. The hotter it is the more the foam will expand.

What they said^^ You might be better off getting the pink foam from HD and using it instead. It also doesn't absorb water.

Remember it depends on the density. It would be ideal to use 4 or 8lb under the tray and 2 in the gunnel.
You can avoid some paint mishaps by waxing everythjng and covering it with packing tape. Not a job for painters tape, but you could cover with painters then cover that with packing.

I used pink foam for the majority of the tray and then expanding foam just to kind of fill gaps and help provide a little extra structural support. That way any water that gets in wont be absorbed by the pink foam and even if 100% of the minuscule amount of expanding foam got waterlogged it would hardly add any weight. It's worth considering but cutting pink foam adds a lot of work.

My ski is complete with no foam in the tray area. I was hoping to drill some holes in the back. Pour the foam in and then install drains

I have problems with nitrile gloves. I have to wear cotton or work gloves under the nitrile gloves. My favorite gloves to use as liners are the $2 work gloves from harbor freight. They are just be right amount of thickness and dexterity.
Hey Bryan. The drains alone aren't working for ya? I just bought some of the new style Thrust mini drains. But now I am thinking maybe I should of had Rage install foam as well. I thought Josh was going to add some but he ended up going foamless and I have water getting in there as well. Guess water intrusion was going to happen -foam or not- so I needed drains either way. In a way I'm glad no foam so it cant get water logged,.....but obviously I am worrying about having no foam in my ski and having it sink?!!!
Ski was finally built and turfed/painted so cutting open the tray really isn't an option now, so I would have to do the pour foam as well. But since I KNOW I have water getting in there I am worried that I will have a waterlogged tank!!! (Probably had 1-2 gallons after 1st 15 minutes out on it.) Not sure what to do!

Not sure exaxtly. Maybe a little under 1 gallon?!! Seemed like a lot though. It's my 1st AM hull and I hear they all leak somewhat. But we weighed it and it was definitely at least 8 lbs lighter after drilling 2 holes and tipping and draining it. I bought some Thrust drains for it so hopefully it will drain most out itself coming up the dock on the trailer, but I'll probably have to lift the front up every ride on the stand to get it all out. But that's why I'm hesitant to have it foamed as i don't want the foam to get water logged.

Seems to me, if it was supposed to be sealed it should leak that much. But, as a lot say, many leak. If say put some ball type hull drains on it and be done.
Yeah the new Thrust mini drains are the ball type. I know Rage's comp skis are open bulkhead with no foam,...so although mine isn't a "comp layup" it may be built the same way,...which it probably is since they built mine with no foam as well. But we didn't have the holes drilled for drains so I'm really not sure?!! I'll be heading up there soon to pick it up so I will ask them then.
I know they build SOLID skis and Josh assured me it wont sink!!! But I am still considering foaming it "just in case"!!! haha
