Use UMI Steering without the O-rings?

What's the worst that can happen if I run without O-rings for a couple rides?

I need a couple sets of new O-rings but don't feel like ordering them in packs of 25 from Mcmaster. I already have a ton of spare bearings so replacing them isn't a big concern.

If anyone has extras O-rings they want to sell, let me know please. I need 1 full set but would likely buy at leats 3 sets for spares.

go to a bearing or gasket place.they usually sell them separate.

Does it matter what material they are made from? Mcmaster lists about 10 choices in material for every size.

I went to a hose and gasket place here in town... they ask me how many I wanted, and then said I could have them for free.

I stopped at every hardware and supply store between my work and home (75 mile stretch) and come up with nothing. I broke down and ordered a bunch from Mcmaster today. I have a bunch of bearings already so maybe I can put together a few kits for fellow riders if anybody needs.

I always destroy the bigger bottom O ring. I could use a few.

I stay away from rebuild kits because I use the Tuff Thrust washer from JSS and I get the sealed Bearings for a couple bucks each. All in all I am out less than $20 and I have 6 bearings and 20 each of the O-rings.
