I second that! After several months of riding mine (-4 with long plate) i cant go back to ride my back up SJ.

I have not ridden an Evo so can't comment on that. I have ridden two -2 freaks. The freak and the vision are honestly not even comparable skis. Two completely opposite rides. The vision carves on rails and turns instantly. The freaks slide and stay flat when turning. The vision feels more directly connected to the water. Freaks have a looser feeling. Both are very stable at speed.

If you like one you will probably dislike the other. A tight riding ski and a loose riding ski both have their advantages and disadvantages. It all comes down to preference and riding style.

I can slide out a vision at 15+ mph on a breaker and recover quicker than anything else I've rode. I don't know about freaks cause I've never rode one but a Vision does what you want. It WILL slide.

Visions are GREAT hulls and they simply work... Carve on a dime... rides waves perfectly... great in lakes, etc.... For that price Steve is offering... Good luck finding another one... Plus... it is brand new and Steve is a stand up guy... Does killer turf jobs as well... !!!

That ski prior to becoming parted out at $ 16K was an awesome deal compared to some of the Rickters and other skis in the $ 25+ K mark... I have ridden one of his Visions with a TPE ( not sure which CC ) and that motor ripped... Vision plus TPE is a win-win reliable rocket... both surf or flatwater... !!!

@djkorn1 Have you? I'd be interested in hearing your opinions and comparisons....
I've ridden quite a few freaks. -4.3 I think. I liked them, but they seemed a little more flatwater oriented. I could probably get into one if it had a much longer pole. I am NOT a flat water rider. The vision is just much more stable, yet small. So you can fling it around...to me, feels like the perfect surf ski. I've ridden a bunch of Rickters...and they were all so different, but I didn't think any of them were even in the league of the vision. They felt like all of the other small hulls I've ridden. I still love my Trinity, but it feels too big now after being on a Vision.

Remember, I like to ride FAST and ride in crappy 2-3 foot waves mostly.

This is a bold statement because I've never even tried a backlflip, but if I owned the Vision I rode I would have (tried to) flip it that day. Coming off a superjet this ski is like a cheat code to physics, I swear. And I'm the "rather be on a superjet" type of guy.

I have vision -4 and rickter Evo in my garage. Both with Jetmaniac 781 engines, mag pumps etc. identical powertrain. Rickter is a bit more playful ski, but it slides a lot. With tubbies, EVO becomes much better boat. Rickter is the best quality built hull I have seen on the market. Vision carves and digs hard like 08+ SJ, but of course much more stable and flippable than SJ. I ride surf and personally do not like the ski to slide, therefore I would say I like Vision handling better, but that's my personal taste. As for flipping and rolling, both skis do it easy. You dont have to be a pro to flip a vision or Rickter hull. If you ride mostly salt, ask Steve to build you glass only ski with extra layer of cloth and extra layup on the hood. My Vision is heavily modified and reinforced to sustain the abuse I put it through in the ocean. It is much heavier than the regular Visions, but that's what you want for surf. There are plenty of pics flipping hulls, but below I like to show how good the Vision shreds the wave.
