What do you use? @dmpus
I finally plugged mine a couple weeks ago with this, and its been tight&solid so far, 4 bux from home depot
I can remove it and put the scupper flap back on any time..
P.S. that bolt might rust quick tho

That is what I use when in the surf too. I plug mine from the inside though so I don't have to mess with the flap and it still there just incase the plug fails.

Dumpus, Ace hardware or Home Depot sells this plastic one, it won't rust. I use it in the surf because I'am new to surf riding. I plug my scupper from the inside and use electric bilge. For lakes and river I run the scupper as normal it works great at clearing the water I just want some extra time if the ski gets away from me. I use silicone to glue the blue bilge pump base to the hull, and rap the pump with a thin 3/4 inch wide piece of turf, putting it around the pump and behind the blue prongs of the base and zip tie to pump so the pump can't become dislodged from its baseimage.jpg

I thought the point in a scupper was to seal when not being forced open by water..what would be the difference in running one in flat water vs surf? The waves could force it open?

Personally Im not sure I'd want a scupper on my hull..seems like it's just one more way to sink a ski...I prefer dual bilges

Thats the idea. But if the ski starts to sink and the scupper is out of the water. As the ski fills with water it gonna push the air out. It escapes out the scupper. Guy that ride surf dont use theme cuz if there to far away from there ski they may not can get to it quick enough

Yeah, I think I'll stick to bilges..lol..

Water can't defeat gravity. If you put a straw in you glass of water, does the water shoot up the straw?... The water will only go up the tube as far as the water level around the ski. So if the end of the hose is above that, the water will go into the breather, but never get close enough to the end of the hose to flood your ski.
This all assumes your hood seals tight and there are no other leaks like your pole bracket...

I see, so don't let water in and you won't have to worry about forcing air out I guess?

Btw, mine does not have an scupper valve, just two versa plugs and bilge pump. I ride 100% in the ocean so scupper did not appeal me.
