Custom/Hybrid Vision talk...

All right then, no more visual carbon inside of the glass hulls. I'm just gonna throw some paint in there like every one else.

BTW, I have yet to see a hull that does not take on any water in the tray thus the reason I always install versi plugs for the rear section.

See that! I can take negative feedback and turn into solving the problem. That's why I like to hear from other that ride my hulls.

Are the engine mounting plates currently held in by glass and carbon? Or just the carbon?

Nothing phishey here. Its the same old situation, someone finds an issue with a product, says something, everyone takes sides and its on (backie chan, bob, SF, 701 and the list goes on). I have witnessed and been a part of this type of situation, which is enlightening somewhat... Lots of hulls hold up to hard impacts, some of them go for years without breaking, others don't. Like Wilkey said, there were some problems with the hull upon inspection, it is what it is... if you weren't in the garage looking with them then you have nothing to contribute to the quality of the hull.
Agreeeed 110%. But saying there's strength issues, then saying you weren't talking about strength issues. Be phishey. Steve also said he didn't use steel rivets... Where'd the steel rivets come from..?

Exactly. Those problems were worth mentioning but to imply that the hull was poorly built because of them was a bit drastic. From the sounds of speedysprocket's posts it seemed like the ski was ready to fall apart at any second.

they are mounted with epoxy, glass and carbon over them. I haven't seen any of the engine mounting plate fail yet or come apart even after extreme abuse

That's good to know thanks for posting that! Btw I love how you do the carbon on the inside of the hulls, it makes my engine bay look great, mine is holding up just fine, I'd much rather have the carbon then paint

I second Harbor post ;
Steve dont let this issue to make you stop putting carbon inside the hull. In my understanding is not a reinforcement but a liner that gives more quality to the product.
May be the carbon has to be glued somehow differently although a 15 o 20 ft fall must stress anything you put inside the hull.

Thats not true at all. The carbon is for reinforcement and sex appeal. Carbon is stronger and lighter than fiberglass but much more expensive. Steve's glass hulls come with carbon reinforcement for strength, save weight and sex appeal in the engine bay. It's not strictly a visual thing otherwise he would just be adding unnecessary weight and build costs. The term visual carbon is when you don't cover it with paint, you just leave the resin and finish it that way. It's a skill to make visual carbon parts looks uniform and neatly layed and usually makes costs much higher than normal carbon layup. The visual carbon you are likely referring to was speedysprockets reference to the orange hull where it is apparently delaminating from the glass. Carbon mixes with glass jut fine and adheres with resin. If it delaminates then there's a flaw in workmanship.
Speaking of visual carbon you should see Steve's (waterfreak) Vision, its a work of art with visual carbon everywhere.

Although I am still currently building my vision that I got used and only time will tell how it actually holds up I can honestly say that the overall quality of the thing is awesome and I would put it against any other hull out their. I don't see any gaps at the bow eye like was stated and the carbon on the inside I think really sets the look off compared to just paint. Steve is a great guy and even though im not the original owner he didn't have a problem answering my calls and my dumb questions.

One final sanding prior to paint has been its status for the last 6 weeks… Should be back together for the spring.
Is he going back with orange?
At least it didnt sink after the impact. After I got back from Daytona 2013 I put an oem hood seal on mine an shoved some noodles in it. Also added 50 mil riser bars. Cant wait to try them out.
The watcon hood seal was letting water in and the hood didnt fit deep into the recess. Big diff with the oem.

3 more Visions are being built right now. 2 glass and one full visual carbon. We will also be offering 2 tone different colored gel coat option.
I am also looking at developing a new short hull with some very unique features...stay tuned!!

Cool, may be interested when you get the short one done, was very happy with your build of my ski and how you kept me informed no matter how busy you got, returned texts and msg even while you were away at events and above all you were straight up with me and honest. Great builds, great service!!!!!
