Volunteers for Tech Articles

Seems some do not like the way I have the FAQ. I have links to detailed threads with through coverage for frequent topics. I know there are often multiple links, but some will have great pics others will have tips and others will have list of materials. I often try to notate what the links contain, but that is not always the case.

As much as I want to, I do not have the time to write articles on stuff that is hashed over & over again. And since some are too lazy to READ the threads, or at a minimum skim the content, I will take volunteers who are willing to write up articles. (this is not targeted at anyone in particular, this is an observation since I have been the FAQ mod).

This is something I was going to do. I will be reinforcing my ski soon with a foothold installation, but seriously there are already dozens of threads on this board and probably hundreds on PWCT.

I am more frustrated than anything. It's really not that big a deal, and I am not going to beat myself over this. I am just not going to write articles for topics covered dozens of times.

So if you feel you can throughly document, with materials lists and photos, I will take your documentation and post it in the FAQ. I am asking for help with this. Perhaps if its a collaborated effort put into the FAQ, it can be what I envisioned when I volunteered for the position.

I think you've done a good job bro. You deserve more credit than what people have given you on here.

I believe you have done a good job also. I can't imagine it being an easy task at all. I think it would be hard to have any one person create articles on in depth subjects such as installing foot wells or re enforcing a ski since there are so many procedures, products, and techniques that are preferred by different people.

That being said, will you still have all the present threads that are currently available linked, lets say underneath the future write ups forum members will be submitting?

I just wish there were a way for more people to know about the Tech articles so that people will know/remember to use them before posting a thread or ask the infamous newb questions. I forget to look there myself all the time. It cracks me up when I see michael950 post "In the FAQ/Tech section already" in a thread. I feel his frustration every time.

I would keep the existing links, and hopefully (with enough articles) have Darin create a Tech Articles section. The details would be posted and available in PDF format for printing, thus available while you are doing the project.

you noticed that too, huh?:bs2:

Yep, I noticed that. It was fairly obvious to me who was being referenced (even with the "(this is not targeted at anyone in particular, this is an observation since I have been the FAQ mod)" disclaimer.

I think Jesse was just defending himself. :cool2:

I have my ski completely apart right now. What do you need? Motor install, flywheel removal, kenny keeper install, b pipe install, round pole on a square, hood liner mod, primer install, rev limit removal, etc...

:banghead: %^$# :banghead: Now that I look at this list I have alot to do this week.

edit: I think you do a great job on the Tech FAQs.

Hmmmmm....

Someone's post seemed to disappear. :skull2:
yeah, they have............ they were not productive post.............. just causing trouble, I seem to recall one of the members in this thread getting banned for his disrectfull attitude towards a Moderator not too long ago.... could happen again if it keeps up........... (and no, not talking about SFL).

I have gone back and looked at the questionable thread, have not seen the rest of it until just now........ I think there some issues that will need to be worked out as far as Tech Faq goes, personally, I dont see anything wrong with it, looks more like someone not wanting to do the search and bitching..... seems like all the info is there for the said topic............
this thread will self destruct in 10 minutes.

Chick,

Jessie is not the only one who has recommended articles. Unfortunately he has taken this personally since his thread was "the straw". I can back my statement up by the fact others do not read what is in the FAQ (especially when I point them to the thread with the info they request), and will when I have more time I will do this.

I have doc appts today, and am getting to this as I can. So I will back myself tonight. (Why I have to prove this is beyond me, but since others are getting upset about it I will provide documentation of my statement... instead of making blanket statements like others with no validation or proof).

I spend way too much time on this site, and it's scary that when the things that seem to be asked once a day I am able to find the info. Knowing the key phrase and knowing the members who asked the question helps me with this. I assume you have seen me do this on occation.

Anyway... it was not my intention to cause any drama. Since I have the little one, I do not want to take time away from him to write articles to stuff that is already there... hence the request for volunteers.

Delegation gets stuff done.

I was just pointing out that Jesse's post was deleted. You don't have to quote anyone to prove anything to me. I think you have done a good job with the Tech section, as well---although I don't refer to it much myself.

Everyone is so bitchy around here lately and bannings and deleted posts/threads are becoming the norm. I wish this wasn't the case.
