One of these days I'll tell the story of when my wife (gf at the time) and I were riding on a weekday afternoon (no traffic) and the cop boat pulled "us" over but she kept on going and left me with them by myself.

In MO you cant jump a wake within 100 feet of another boat, period. If someone else is behind them, you cant jump...

IF...
there is another boat coming the other direction where by you jumping a wake you will temporarily disappear to the oncoming driver, it's also consider reckless driving. AFAIK there is no defined distance there has to be between the boat's wake you're jumping and the other boat coming the other direction which make's it unlawful. I've never been pulled over for jumping anyways, just out riding around gets you pulled over on lake of the ozarks, unless you're up by PC where their main concern is keeping penis boats from mowing eachother over.

RECKLESS AND CARELESS OPERATION

Anyone who operates a vessel with willful disregard for the safety of persons or property will be cited for reckless operation (a first-degree misdemeanor).

All operators are responsible for operating their vessel in a reasonable and prudent manner with regard for other vessel traffic, posted restrictions, the presence of a divers-down flag, and other circumstances so as not to endanger people or property. Failure to do so is considered careless operation (a non-criminal infraction).

A violation of the Federal Navigation Rules is also a violation of Florida law.

Chic,

The statement above does not say 'willful disregard for the safety of other persons or Other's property will be cited for reckless operation'... Really big gray area here. It could be interpreted that by jumping wakes you are putting yourself and your vessel in harms way.

also, check the Federal Navigation rules set out by the USCG and the USCG regulations in regards to boating! All Florida laws that I can find in regards to the use of PWC's refers tp the federal guidelines.

See you in court!:arms: :Banane01: :woot:

Here you can jump th wake, as long as you are 100ft. back. You cannot cross at the back of a boat less than 100' legally on a PWC. We do about 50 with the Sherriff in view and they never seem to mind, but if you get too close I think we would have problems.

They're not very tolerant when it comes to wake jumping from my experience---I've had some warnings, but so far no tickets in the State of Florida. I did receive a couple of reckless operation tickets on my 550 when I was Stationed with the Air Force in Oklahoma.

They call our area the "Redneck Riviera" for a reason, Charlie. :scared:

Smithville lake Missouri

So far, I haven't had a problem with jumping wakes. Actually, the other day, Tuesday the lake was extremely calm, and the only way to catch airtime was to jump wakes. I actually was jumping the wake of the water patrol boat. I was well beyond the 100' limit, and traffic was light. They did however keep a close eye on me jumping other boat's wakes. I think it's more about showing respect for others. I'm sure if they thought you were acting like an a** they would bust you or at least give you a good talking to.
