A local water cop once told me (privately) that he can ticket any PWC for "reckless operation of a vessel" when ever the hull leaves the water, ie. jumping wakes.
He also told me that they get pressure at times from their higher ups to keep a close eye on all PWC's . Rich old bastard boat owners bitch about PWC's splashing about and spoiling their day out on their yachts drinking, since these a$$hats have the cash and pull, cops must do what their superiors say.
That same cop has waved me onto his own wake countless times and is always cool to the stand up riders.
