No worries Eric. I guess I just wasnt sure where this wall all going so I wanted to clear it up before it came an issue.

Does anyone own a Wmailtons hood that hasnt seperated in places? It seems his contact patch from liner to shell is very minimal .

Can that liner be removed all together ?
Might make the repair process a bit easier or maybe Wammer could send you a new one.

What hood is that and how much did you pay ?

post a closeup pic of the hand holds and I can tell you.

I have had 3 wammer hoods, one held up perfectly, the next seperated pretty quick, easy fix. current hood is an older hood, seperated but it had years of abuse. easy fix.

I did some work on the hood today. I drilled out all the rivets, cut a line down all the way on each side, and cleaned up some areas that need materials added and reshaped.

Here are some pics... so what kind of epoxy you guys think i should use in the cut lines on the side? How should I reshape the area by the breather? epoxy and cabosil mixed thick? put extra on and reshape to match the rest of the hood and then put on a thin layer of glass to reinforce?

Also got some pics of the handholds as requested. See next post for those...

the diablo - black

and from what I have heard it is not a match to the stock superjet black, but it should be close... if it isnt close enough for my liking I will prob. have it painted at the same time I have the wammer hood painted.

and btw- you should come up to Put-In-Bay this summer with some of us... I have a friend who brings his GP1300R up from Cincy... I will be starting a thread in a few more months to hopefully generate some interest. We are planning on going August 7,8,9,10 so far.

Waterdawg makes really great freestyle parts and kits. I had the Diablo on my super jet, now I'm running his GP800 set up. The complete REV ski. (Engine, hull, handle pole, the works)

It seems like that is the weak link on those hoods.
My used Wamiltons hood was pretty much the same way. It was originally Pat Bogarts, then was owned by Henno Heiter(Slymo), so it had been abused pretty well.

I ground out all the old crap in between the liner and hood and filled with epoxy resin and milled fibers. I also reinforced the air breathing areas. That was 6 months ago and its been holding up strong(hood tricks and all).
BTW, mine is one of the older ones.. I dont know if that is good or bad compared to the new Wamiltons hoods.:dunno:
