Wanting to buy first stand up jetski, things to look out for?

Plan a weekend...make a road trip to wherever u find what looks to be a reasonable deal and after talking to seller: confirm its available, reliable and legit. I wouldn't buy a used ski without inspecting and riding it.

Not close but SJ's are semi plentiful in this area.

If it says it needs the carb cleaned just don't buy it. I'd say get the cleanest ski you can for your price range no matter what kind (440,550,650, or superjet) as long as you're on the water and not the wrench, you'll be having fun!!

Ok, so this one popped up recently: http://kansascity.craigslist.org/boa/5184927074.html but not having a title scares me a bit. Not sure how big of a deal a cracked pole is.
There's also an 83 JS440 : http://loz.craigslist.org/bod/5174163645.html That one is within my price range and only about an hour away. I've arranged to meet them on Sunday to look at it. Worth $500? What are some things I should be looking for?

Out of those two I would take the superjet. a pole isn't that bad to replace. take it for a ride before you buy if you can.

Some states don't require a title. Your state may be one of those. Check into that

Mine definitely requires a tite, which is why not having one scares me a little. I can get a salvage title but if I remember correcty, that's a $400 process. And water patrol does check for current licenses where we are. The year we bought our sit down jetski, they pulled friends/family over three times in the two weeks it took me to get it relicensed in my name.
