My biggest concern would be water backflooding into the engine without a waterbox to stop it. I've seen it happen (frequently) on a SJ 1200 conversion without waterbox.

All good info guys. yeah i was looking at an older seadoo waterbox since they are so small. does it matter which way the waterbox is mounted(upright/sideways/etc) and does it matter if you plug the hoses in the right way? Will backwards let water in or will it work just as fine?

the design of the exhaust system from the cylinder to the exit nozzle is going to determine whether water will run up the exit and get into the motor. it never happens with a factory pipe head pipe being up high. powerfactor or WDK style down slung pipes let water into the motor unless you have something to stop it. the rubber flap on old kawi 750 was on there to stop water from going up the tailpipe. without that flap, it sometimes blows hoses off the exhaust if its full of water.

I rode my blaster without a waterbox for a couple hours one day. Sounded pretty awesome. But I could see it being annoying to other people. Was pretty loud. Lol

I am about to run one these waterbox's/resonater that i bought from TDR its a 3.5'' center can with a 2 1/4'' inlet to a 2 1/2'' outlet as well as a water inlet. One of the other members on here (RAGS) was running one of these and he claims that if you mount it on the ski at an angle it works really good for back pressure i have not messed around with it yet. will it be loud probably but its a jet ski. How many flat bottom boats out there are loud? almost every single one. r3.jpg

A tripple without a waterbox is the most ear peircing annoyingly loud ski you'll ever hear. My buddy has a tripple kawi without a waterbox which makes peopel poop their pants everytime he fires it up.

The best waterbox IMO for a yamaha tripple conversion is a raider 1100 waterbox #1 (there's two boxes in a raider, so make sure you get box 1). No modifications to the box required, and the inlet and outlet are the right size for the motor, no backpressure issues.

Prob catch some flak but I love no waterbox. I know everyone on the lake is aware of my ski. I don't har to be as careful of other boats. I still am but it's more piece of mind. Helps in surf also becuase buddoes will be able to tell when you go down even if they dont see you.

People and cops are going to hate your ski even if its powered by water itself and 100 percent silent. We are just like skateboarders to everyone else. I've stopped trying to make others happy.

Never once ever had a problem with water flooding my engine. My ski has been thrown from man feet up from failed rolls and landed upside down many times floating. I sink my ski more than anyone I know. I float kn the middle of the lake all the time. Couple times or over an hour. In run stok exhaust

Buddy removed he stock baffle and had problems hydro locking.

Skateboarder thing is dead on. Yeah i fired the ski w/o waterbox today just on starting fluid and only fired for a second before i turned it off. Didn't give it a chance to run. I ran to change my pants because that Sh*t is loud. Sounded like a 450f dirtbike which =AWESOME lol. I have a small 700raider waterbox i will trim and fit and see how it sounds. Going to place in water tomorrow on trailer just to give it some run time and that way the water quiets the exhaust a bit.

(Danman108) And would that resonator keep water out of the engine. I dont care about the exhaust being too loud, my concerns are protection and keeping ski in great running condition
