Other Waterbox...do you really need one?

I'm just wondering... Why there's still a debate. It's safe for your engine, it's quiet and 0 performance gains when removed. Plus nobody will complain. Seems pretty clear.

Yea for me it doesn't make too much of a difference. I made my decision a few days ago and just trying to finish things up here with a waterbox just for peace of mind with it protecting water from backing in the motor if thats possible.

I ran my yamasaki conversion ski with no waterbox. it was loud but no louder than side exit exhaust. I also only rode surf at the time and the noise wasnt really bothering anyone. With that being said I never had any issues with water coming back but i didnt really chill out in the surf, not running.

I would only recommend running without one if absolutely necessary. I just gave SuperN8 a sweet waterbox delete pipe so he can make the deadline for his build.

Well if the ATP box would have worked out I would use that. Still iffy on the wb delete cuase I am worried about the noise levels and water traveling back to the cylinders. if stock wb fits its going in, if not it looks like I am going to be the annoying person riding the ridiculous loud ski.

You MUST fit a waterbox with the same size hose fittings as standard, otherwise you will get tuning, but more importantly, overheating issuses.
We have done both the Raider 1100 and GP1200 WB1 conversions and you must keep the 4" in and out hose fitting size.
We used a Raider watertrap in the 1100 conversion and a GP760 waterbox with modified in/out hose fittings for the 1200.
Both ski's ran great and were easy to tune. Steve.

Did not think about the fitting sizes. the exiting fitting size on the blaster i believe is a 2.5" and i don't want to have the exhaust out the back. Will the ski overheat with a waterbox with smaller fittings more than a ski w/o waterbox? Im fitting in a waterbox now but what you just said is now F-ing me up in my head!:aargh4:

I dont know if it will overheat, it just wont rev like it should. You'll be stuck in the 5K rpm range. It kinda defeats the purpose of a tripple.

so a waterbox is going to control how high an engine will rev is what your saying??? That doesn't really make sense, can you elaborate

OHH...or are you saying the fitting size won't let it rev properly?

We fitted the dual ex outlet from an 1100 raider to the opposite side of the pump cavity to keep the correct Ex size all the way through. Als fitted the extinguisher cover to the rear of the hull to make access and fitting easier. keeps the ski running well and nice and quiet.Ex.jpghull.jpg

It's blocked off because I'm running a Dasa 850SS in that hull at the moment, so using the standard outlet. have a couple of photos when it was running the 1100.engine.jpg1100.jpg
