IMO there is VERY little to be gained in the area of waterboxes. They actually work pretty well and modified or aftermarket boxes usually just make more noise and not power. Most of the popular AM boxes will make less power than stock.
So thats what the inside of a stocker looks like. I would think that either increasing or adding another horizontal tube would improve the flow a little. Prolly also make the exhaust note a little louder. Glue a second tube in and see what happens:fing02:
What would make us think that the flow needs improving? The tubes and holes through the vertical baffle are already many times the cross sectional area of the pipe. I think it's more likely the flow might be "improved" too much? The boats I've played with that were running the currently popular aftermarket waterbox actually ran better when the OEM box was reinstalled. An added bonus is you don't piss off the rest of the lake and get thrown out or get hassled by the fuzz every time you ride.:veryhappy:
Check this out. This is what I was thinking looks like a hole. After looking at the other pics I think you're right. I'd still leave it stock.
The old school stuff I did to the fiberglass waterboxes was cut out a 1.5" hole in chamber plate, this was on our waveblaster I's when I ran Kawasaki 650 limited chambers with my 781cc 5mm strokers in the sport mod class and worked really good and sounded like a light muffled racing engine.
I have a couple things here..... If the waterbox blew apart you might have a problem with your ignition switch also.
I am pretty sure that that second set of pictures is what Richards waterbox looked like when we put it back together. I will ask him monday when we get to work.
I was meaning we left the center section out so it is just a hollow box with the 2 pipes in it. NOT ..do you need to know how it goes back together I am sure that you can figure that out even though you aren't used to working on stuff you can still do it.... Just believe.....
