Watercraft factory hull engine bay liner seperating?

I've got a watercraft factory 1 hull and if I grab the head pipe I can rock the motor side to side a little bit. After a bit of observing I noticed the whole "engine bay liner" on the left rear has broken free. It looks as though the bottom of the hull was glassed and then they added some type of liner in the bottom of the engine bay. My question is can I just re-glass the edge where the liner has separated to get is strength in the motor mounts back so it doesn't rock side to side?

Dude you might want to get some glue In between the liner and hull laminate.
Can you wedge it apart abit? And force glue in the gap.

You will need to degrease the area thoroughly and then key up (sand) the area before re glassing

There are a few hull builders that have (and some that currently are) employed this type of hull construction, it seems that a decent amount of them have delamination issues. You could probably try and get some epoxy resin under it to glue it down and hopefully make it through the rest of the year but ultimately you will likely have to pull that liner out and do it the right way.

Heres a couple:

Thanks for all the info and Ya nube it's lakeboys old ski. I'm hoping I can get some epoxy underneath it but more then likely I'll have to rip the liner out and redo the whole thing. Two of the motor mounts are cracking and starting let loose.

I am sorry about that, had I known that hull was one with the liner, I would probably have told you to stay away, I would have put money on this happening. Looks like you have a winter project.

It's already apart right now Lol. I yanked the motor last night and I'm planning on tearing into the rest of the week to 're-glass and epoxy. Couldn't really see any of this til I did some serious digging. I got the ski pretty cheap so I'm not too upset yet.

I would approach this similar to what Schimdty had done on his vision (in the thread posted above) and just put motor mount pads similar to most aftermarket hulls and not try and re-glue the liner portion back in. It will be a lot more work but ultimately I think this is the proper way.

I really think that is the best idea, like I said, you could try and just re-glue what is there back down to make it through the season but ultimately adding new aluminum pads and glassing them in for the motor mounts is the best option.

I was thinking to try and 're glue them down and then glass the liner to the sides of the hull?

The problem is you will probably always have an air gap somewhere between the liner and the bottom deck, being a lightweight hull you will probably always have a bit of flex too (likely will be different between the bottom deck and the liner and likely caused this delamination).

Gotcha I'm just worried about getting the motor mounts lined up right if I tear out the liner.

Also does the liner really actually doing anything other then making the engine bay look tidy?

I think the idea of it is to easily locate/replicate the insert locations when building the hull and to make the engine bay look nicer.
