Waterdawg kustomz 1200 cc

Alright Tom, gonna put you own the hotseat. I am sure that you have ridden both of them. (Cannot remember if you have the 1200 motor or not). What is your throughts???

Which motor is the best setup. Strongest. Etc...... You dont get in the middle of any B.S. and I think everybody here respects your opinion.

i have a brand new wdk 1200 motor sitting on my bench waiting on a pipe, i dont want to build my envy until the new drypipe is here so i can fab a waterbox. luke (skywalker) has a wdk 1200 motor (that he runs in his envy). Lukes motor was also in my octane for awhile. A friend of ours has a new eme1000. The 1200 i've ridden is 185lb pump gas, the eme 1000 is higher compression race fuel only

The 1200 has more brute power, its very torquey, more power right off the bottom and it pulls on your body harder, lukes ski is slighty over 60mph. The 1000 eme runs better because it revs into its powerband faster and revs to the moon (malone claims it will top out at very high 60's) i don't know but after riding it i'd believe it, i could not hold it open for very long.

The wdk motors have always been limited by the pipe Jeff made, it doesnt have the fastest and highest rev that motor is capable of. Jeff has paid a professional pipe building company to make him a pipe. Its been built and dyno tested, paul let them borrow his dyno, not really the pipe company has their own dyno. I've seen the prototype pipes on derricks and johns skis (so i know they exist) but have not ridden them. But I can tell they rev faster and higher than the old pipe, i know this from because weve run the motor for two seasons now and are familar with the way the motor sounds. Luke and i are waiting on Jeff to get us some final pipes and have been told "any day now".

Derrick, John, ant burgess and maybe ivan are going to be the only people that have ridden a eme1105 and wdk1200 w/new pipe and would be able to set the record straight. Some people rode derricks' ski last year at the world finals but it had the old pipe on it. And only 3 of us rode it back to back with the eme1000

IMO the 1200 (in its current state) would pull the eme in a tug of war, it has much more torque and pushes a higher prop. Lukes envy and the eme 1000 have the exact same 145mm skat pump in them. Lukes running a considerby higher pitch than the eme1000.

IMO The eme is a very refined boat performance wise, quality needs some improvement for that price boat. WDK is still behind in overall motor performance ONLY because of the pipe issue. Once the pipe is available then my prediction is it will be the most powerful 2cy standup motor, its defineatly better priced . From what i've been told the dyno testing supports the power claims, however, i've seen no proof of dyno numbers either side and don't want to argue.

The 1200 platform has room to grow, (lightweight cranks, stroker cranks, bigger bores and new ignitions (like the advent)). Unsure if the polaris motors have room to grow.

Nice post Tom as usual.

Great comparison, what are the prices of each?

What are people running for ignitions with the 1200, TL, or stock or?

advent has fully programmable ones available, you can manually program your timing curve with a laptop and it will still charge your battery. You'll need stock electrics from the 66e, its a cdi replacement.

I'm looking for a GP 800 TL fly wheel. Anyone?

Good luck finding one. I have been looking for years and can't find a used one. MSD wants so much for just a new one by it's self, it makes buying a USED SJ system and then buying a 800 flywheel to go with it not practical. Now that I said that, one will pop up for you.

I bought my TL for the GP800 from John at Jet ski solutions. He did a wonderfull job of wiring it all up also. Check him out.

with the dry pipe and 1200cc,odds are the tl system is not needed.i'm going with advent in mine as tl is a pain in the butt.
tom,do you know when the dry's will be available?can't reach jeff and my 1200 has been in the lightweight hull for a while now!
did you ever try the new wet pipe?
thanks.

Look at it this way also.........to my knowledge, you can't buy just a eme 1150 or 1000cc engine. You have to buy a complete ski for 33-40k. The average joe can buy a WDK 1200..........though Waterdawg will even tell you that that engine is not for everyone b/c of the power it makes.

From my experience I can say that you will need a mag pump, MSD tl and the new WDK dry pipe to get the most from this platform. Advent does make a ignition that will work with the gp platform so that may be an option as well.

Lustic has been running a motor that is very similar to the EME 1000. You can also purchase a motor through Mark Baxter as well, cannot remember the name of his company. Watcon could probably supply one as well.
