Waterdawg's 1200cc R.E.V.

Just to let you know, Chris Hartsook is the other half of Waterdawg. He is the cnc machinist. He is in-house and is the cnc master. All the billet aluminum pieces are machined by him. The blue rev at the finals had all his machined pieces on it: cylinders, head, powervalve plates, engine mounts, hood latch, handlepole, handlepole bracket, turnplate, throttle cable mount, front hoodlatch pin system, switch knob,. The cast aluminum pieces like the intake and exhaust manifolds were final machined by him. He has some really good ideas for new products. Between him and Jeff there are very few parts on that ski that are still yamaha.

Reading this hurts. It's like when you were a kid and wanted something because it was so cool at the time. Then life told you that you couldn't have it because it was actually impossible to acquire at any price.

Honestly, I hope I'm wrong and this guy turns it around for the people that will still entertain buying stuff from him.

Best of luck to all...

I was one of the lucky ones to get to ride the beast. All I can say is that I need some more practice to handle it. For such a giant motor it rev'd out better than anything I had ever rode(with broken reeds, and a very leaky head o-ring). The power was also soooo amazing, its such a different power from the dinasour motors. Very smooth power throughout the rpm range, awesome!! Love it!!!

It's like a Ferrari.

Few people can afford one. Of those select few, even fewer can drive the thing to anywhere close to it's potential.

Then toss in the unreliability of the supplier.

It's an awesome machine I'm sure (except for broken reeds, leaky head), but finding people to buy it will a little hard in the US these days.

Are you sure about that?
When Lenzi started offering 45k skis, everyone here was laughing at him. He's sold every single one of them (reportedly).
The Jetski world is bigger than this forum.

I think he'll sell more than he can produce (i.e., more than 2 a year  )

I predict he will sell many motors, especially because they bolt into a superjet. Two people are involved in the project, Jeff and Chris. Chris is a machine when in comes to making the billet parts, it's not all on Jeff now. You guys can doubt it, but I know the response he got at the finals and how many motor orders he has already. You guys would crap if you knew how far this has gone already. I wish those guys luck and hope they buck up and run waterdawg business equal to the quality and innovation of the parts they build. While this forum is by far the best one out there, it's not the whole world of jetskiing. There are alot of hungry riders dying to beat malone, especially overseas.

I would guess he has more orders for hulls, you can't beat a prepreg hull for strength/weight.

I'm glad I got my order in last year :banghead:

Once again, I mentioned "in the US", because IMO the competition side of jetskiing has shifted to Europe. Freerides are the growing thing in the US.

We have no national tour, had 3 Pro riders at the Nationals, and 5 Pros at the "World" finals. Don't take this as being negative, it's more of a realistic outlook on where the sport is in the US.

I STILL DON'T "GET IT" :banghead:

Even if he could produce and sell four a year, once you subtract his expenses, he could still make more money being the "fry guy" at McDonalds...:cheer:

Why bother?!? :banghead:

I'm not knocking his product---just thinking out loud in terms of "business."
