Waterlogged Kustomz REvFOAM

What are you doing to take the foam out? Sounds like its taking a long time. I cut, defoamed, drained water, re-foamed, sanded, and glassed 2 hulls in two days.

Lol, I was actually seriously considering splitting the hull and gluing the REV topdeck to the SN bottom I've got. I am a bit worried about the bottom deck falling apart but I really don't want to do the work.

I have only worked on it for an hour or two, been pretty busy with life. Have also been sidetracked with getting parts together for my 760, selling off my 66E parts and working on a seadoo.

If you use a water blaster for the rest of the foam (It's a good idea) make sure you wear goggles!!!!! Water blaster does a tidy, fast job. Took me
3-4 hours and 3 showers.

If the blasters strong enough it should also show up any crap delaminating re-inforcing and/or glueing (so you know where to grind and repair)

Is it originally an "out of the factory" WDK hull or had someone assembled a kitset?

2 part foam? ...... Did you find any major shrinkage and/or voids in the foam?

I am pretty sure the hull was assembled by WDK. Yes it was 2 part foam and I did find quite a few voids and quite a few areas where the foam didn't mix/kickoff properly and it was chrunchy and bubbly. There was an air void under the front of the tray and I could easily flex the bottom of the tray with one hand, it will get heavily reinforced when I put it back together.

Here is a quick shot to show how thin the tray was..this was pretty much the thickness on both sides and bottom. Between the footholds was a bit thicker due to Idok reinforcing it there.

Exactly like mine, flexible tray and all, but mine had also shrunk 2 inches away from the sides of the pump. From what I can see it was foamed through a hole at the top of each of the gunwales.

Wonder if it's the foam type or the application??

Not much progress on this lately, hull hasen't even been touched. Finished up my homebrew porting and dropped the motor off at the machine shop to have the cylinders and cases bored over the weekend.
The roads are looking much more inviting than the lakes so I have been putting my extra $ into my bike.

No updates yet, I smoked the cam in my bike, put a new (used) valve train in it then ran into oiling issues and ended up just swapping another motor in and that is finally running so I will be starting to refoam the ski probably next weekend.

WOW, I finally got the ski defoamed, what a PITA. Working around the exhaust tube (with giant outlet), one way tube, steering tube, trim tube and two flexible cooling lines and battery box in the bulkhead was a biotch to get all the foam out. Also the front of the tray is not part of the bulkhead like in a superjet so there was a good amount of foam between the two that I had to dig out by hand to get an area large enough to cram my dremel tool in there and work it out from there. All the foam is finally out and I reinforced the bondline area with 12oz biax. Going to pick up some poly foam this week and start cutting that up and installing it. Still need to find some drain plugs and get a few more gaskets and I can really start putting things together.

Sorry Steel Horse, still no pics, I have taken some but not uploaded any to my computer yet.
Ski is 98% refoamed with pink polystyrene just gotta put the finishing touches on one side then glass my tray panel back in and then fit in some footholds. Put the crank in the cases and the bottom end is assembled, will install the topend this week.

You get the foam at any Home Improvement store.
You can order the drains from Overtons or any OEM dealer.

I was planning on putting in poly with a pair of drains.

just use inner tubes and a pair of drains. put the valve stems though the back of the hull just under the tray ledge. pop open the drains, air up the gunwales, close the drains.

Did you look at the pictures? It's a bit late, besides, this foam is nice, it's a lot stronger than I was expecting and is very light. Plus with it layed in the way it is there are small channels for the water to run to the back.
