Surf is 5-7 hours away depending on the spot. And it could be pretty lousy surf. So i'm 90% flatwater and thats my vote.

If I lived close or closer to the/ a coast, i'm sure i'd own different skis and be all about carving with some air mixed in. I take what I can get.

I say both. It shows your versatility as a rider when you can take the same wave and either carve the crap out of it and rip the lip off or smash a big re-entry utilizing the wave or just choose to charge it and huck a big clean backflip or roll. If you can only do one then you should focus on the other when possible. I'm not young but don't consider myself to be old (and probably never will haha) so I can't risk injuring myself too bad and be out of work (even though I've had 2 sets of stitches in the last 6 months). I'd consider myself a surf rider that likes to go big when conditions allow.
Flatwater = boring unless you're on a pro level. Sorry
Move to the surf

Surf stance Corking out rolls and bringing them in nose first really cuts down on impact. Little more sustainable than other versions. A good reentri landing plush on the white stuff at a clean angle will always be the most fun with least consequences for me though lol

If you don't think the landing will be absolutely perfect, make sure you bail at the highest point and throw the ski away. Everything they said about never letting go of your ski in the surf: that was wrong... I heard bails are pretty fun and are up for scoring consideration.

Be sure to land on your hip/spine as well. It's super effective.

Life is not short, but youth is..I lived my youth in big air days with motox,it sure was fun then, now not so much..I wasnt paid to ride then but instead paying the price today... No one lives forever sounds like the same thing the crack head chain smoking guys say...up until they are about to die...then the story changes. Going big is cool and awesome but comes with a big price without risk management.
Good time for a buzzard quote.. hospitals and graveyards are full of big air big balls types...Im not fond of either, nor opiate addicts from self inflicted ridiculousness

Travis p and James stewart and guys really pushing limits in other sports get paid huge to do what they do,they also have specific insurance to cover them should something really bad happen, you wont find that to be the case in this sport

Some people want to go big while they can and others want to play it safe to avoid pain. Both are equally understandable, just different personality types.

agreed..usually youth and "while you can" correlate. how many times have you looked back at something you did when you were young once you were older and wished you could go back and tell yourself......do this instead. unless you are ingenious most will answer ...many

It would be interesting to see age reflected in the poll results
