Freestyle What do you guys think of this?

Ok so I was helping my buddy with his ROK build this past weekend. We were working in his dad's basement and he has all kind of cool fabricating tools there. SO, since I am spending a bunch of money on Cold-Fuson billet awesomeness, I figured hey, why not showcase the stuff. This is what I came up with. One pretty hardcore clear coupler cover. made of the same stuff that stops hockey pucks at 100+ mph. made with all stainless hardware. I have tons more materials and the template to make more of these. If anyone else wants one let me know! I can make more in short order.

Unless you attach it to the mid shaft housing as well, it will vibrate itself to death in short ordet.

How heavy is it? We already know those mounting points on the cases are weak.......with the vibration and a little extra weight I'm wondering if they will crack quicker?

I put a rubber grommet around the bolt that holds the coupler to the case, I was hoping that would help with vibration, but I really dont have any ride time on it and wont for a while yet, either way I get the plexiglass for free. It weighs in my guess about a pound, but ill get it on a scale later when I get home and will get you a firm answer on weight. Just an idea, but it looks cool just sitting there.

The weak points would be the joints where the bolts/screws hold it together, bust out the heat gun and bend the sheet into a U.

Looks like that is about 3/8" plexi, it will take some patience and skill to try and heat/bend with a heat gun.

Not to mention, how often are you going to pull that shroud off to clean it from the inside?

I think your construction and mounting is strong enough, but you should be using acrylic cement not super glue.

I think it will get dirty quickly anyway. Then it will have been a lot of work for no real bling or it will have to be removed and cleaned and will be a pain to deal with. It looks cool though.

You can't see them in the SF anyways, the motor is setback close & if you did the SF FFH mod there's no way to see it.... But A for effort, I feel ya.... I'm running DB couplers & DB midshaft housing

I completely forgot about the front foothold, this wont work at all for me. By the way florida boys, sick use of a superfreak to everyone in the Jetmaniac pic thread. I want some video though!

I hate to be negative but they all look like crap after a ride or two anyways so why reinvent the wheel over it?

I feel the same way about guys with fancy open rims on their cars with rusted out drums or calipers. Some things were just not meant to be seen.

Very good points all around! It turns out that none of this will be able to be used on my ski anyway, I completely forgot the front foothold on my superfreak is going to take up nearly all of the space this cover covers

well thats kind of good. cause i dont know how my dad would feel about you making a bunch of those in his shop. the stuff really stinks up the house when you cut it. haha. just saying.

i just dont run one. between the smaller diameter of the cold fusion couplers (doesnt pick up near as much water), oem intake, and 2 bilge pumps, i dont have to worry much about sucking up some water.

I could do that pretty damn easy, but who really wants to look at their spaghetti strand of wires, unless you have JSS re-do your box of course. It would be cool to make sure you don't have water intrusion however. Let me see what I can figure out this weekend.

Yeah, that is what I was getting at. You could see water, condensation, corrosion.... And if it could be made with decent hardware instead of the 38 billion soft crappy phillips heads that Yami uses, that'd be a plus as well.
