What do you use for Trailer Bunks?

Right now my beach cart (aluminum tubing with carpet) serves as my bunks.
2" aluminum tubes should hold up for quite some time and the carpet seams to last much longer than on wooden bunks.

Some one might of said this, but how about the plastic 2x4's. There is a place in Corpus called Bluff Plastics I might hit up. I know the have large pieces of plastic that they make cutting boards out of.

The wood grips the hull pretty well IMO - with the teflon it slides right off. Carpet slides too, but not as well as teflon and it ends up needing to be replaced when the corners wear through.

I use teflon strips too. But I would use straight up wood over carpet IMO. Carpet grips more when wet than wood does and it rots the wood too as it holds water FOREVER.

I have an enclosed trailer for my ski trailer and i use uni-strut welded together with roller blade wheels to make it glide. i have 2 5' sections to where i use it as my ramp to unload it also. it works pretty good.

Those 'Ultimate Bunks' look good. But I take PT 2x4 round the ends, router the edges. Paint them with good out door paint- black. Then wrap three sides with carpet and use stainless steel staples. Works / looks good lasts long, and the carpet store is your color pallet?
