Custom/Hybrid What happens if I remove my water box from the jet ski

I have a 2002 Polaris Virage 1200 2 stroke 3 seater I want to remove the water box what will happen if i do ?? Well I cause any motor issues??

My exhaust port I think is under the water line rear of the ski will it still be that loud? and is it beneficial to remove it for power? its a two stroke

it will be obnoxiously loud...waterbox helps with back pressure for the exhaust, also helps keep water from backing up into the exhaust...no reason to remove it....but try it and find out for yourself.

I'll leave it on I guess ..I did a 3 inch pipe back from it..I thought of it as a car take off the cat and muffler little better performance.. any idea on how to get more power out of the motor? Different filter for each of the carbs ?

No box means more noise and less power.

Best way to get more power from a couch is sell it and buy a couch with a bigger motor.

It has a 1200 cc in it now .I thought that was the biggest one there is for the model

Man you really are in the wrong place to be asking about a Polaris Virage. I say this the nicest way possible.

Waveblasters are barley acceptable as far as skis with seats go (couches) and if your not on a superjet or aftermarket hull your in the low 25% of the stand up riders here on the site (this is a guesstimation).



Where was that picture taken of the jeep? It looks remarkably similar to most of north west Fl.

The Virage was one of my favorite Polaris skis back when I worked at the dealer. But they are a big and heavy boat, there may be ways to make gains on it but one would do well to be careful with trying to extract more power out of a Polaris ski. They never could get the cranks right and would spin one far too easily for the application. When at the dealers, we were too frequently replacing cranks on the Pollies. It didn't matter what model either, SL, SLT, Virage TX and TX-i, Genesis...it was like the cranks were made of chocolate. One place that may offer more insight on the runabout craft such as yours though would be greenhulk.net That is a site specific to sit down skis in the same manner as how here on the X it is mainly a stand-up ski oriented site.

Plus, anything above idle and that exhaust outlet is out of the water. Just leave the box in and ride it!

I run no water boxes. Some people like it some don't. In the ocean it's great. My buddies always know when I go down because the sound stops. I feel much safer that way. So do they.

In my area, there aren't designated spots to ride, but there are generally accepted places that skis ride. And it's away from others. Not that I would care anyways. I pay my reg fees. You can hear the drag jet boats 5 mules away on the lake, and people never talk poop about those. Just skis. So I don't really care.

As long as your exhaust has a high and low spot, the water will not flood the engine. Even if you roll ot over. It does not hinder power, the chamber on your exhaust creates plenty of back pressure on its own. The engineers designing your engine made sure of that, trust me.

In the end. Do what you want. Maybe take it out and try it once? Or not. Just offering my opinion.

It'll sound like one of those honda civics with the pedal to the floor and ur looking for a fast car coming and this civic comes cruising by and your like smh most prefer not too but if you want to do it then by all means do it you are the only one that know what you want

I love engines. The sound of a 2 cycle 2 cylinder straight piped hitting the Rev limiter off the water is music to my ears. Seriously one of the most bad ass engine sounds ever I think. So do alot of my riding buddies. But I could see how some might find it annoying. I never would tho

So you no exactly what I talking about I'm not against exhaust noise I have a evo and a dvx with a pfp but when it's the raspy sound I'm totally against it
