I talked to Blowsion today, they do take PayPal...:Banane01:

I'm thinking about doing it next week - anybody else in for a set? Maybe I can get them to come down, what with the competition and all...:sneaky:

It's a shame you guys think like that!! I'm sure if you had a bussiness with overhead that you would be in it to make a profit...otherwise, why bother!:bs2:
Whatever reason Jeff has decided to saturate the market with his price structure if a bit puzzling to me! I know that nobody objects to it of course, but from a bussiness stand point, it doesn't make sense. Maybe this will push some of us out of the picture and give less choices for the consumers. But that's bussiness I guess! Thus the reason why so many companies sub their production to China...TO SAVE MONEY!
What if all hood kits were the same price?? or tubbies for that matter! How would you base your decisions to purchase an item?

I'm sure that many of you think Blowsion (or myself) are somewhat overpriced ! How can you charge so much for fiberglass and foam? Obviously, none of you ever had to create, develop and promote a product . It does take a while to recover your initial investment.

this is just my opinion so please be easy !

With all due respect,
maybe Jeff has decided to make less profit per unit and make it up in quantity ?

Alright, here's an example for you...What if your boss sais to you ,"Boris, will you take a 50% pay cut cause we found somebody else with the same skills to do it for less?" Would you take it? or prefer loosing your job to look for another. Maybe you could work twice the amount of hours to make up for the loss of income!
the problem is that there will always be someone else to do it for less because they want the work...that's just our mentallity here in the US.

In certain cases I would take a pay cut.
However your example doesn't quite show what we are dealing with here.

If for instance my boss came to me and said that we won a bid on a certain job for 50% of the normal cost but have a guarantee that we get 10 of those jobs in a row. By slim-lining production we are able to do 3 of those jobs in the same time it would normally take to do 1 due to the fact that your tools and materials are already out (a Henry Ford style production line).
By the end of the contract we are well in the black and our employees enjoy a merry Christmas.

But aren't we here on the boards to discuss our hobby and shoot shait ?

Sfl free since 3/28
50 hoods at 399 dollars
10 hoods at 600 dollars.

what will make you more money?

Its simple logic.

Well, it so happens that my hobby turned into a bussiness which of course I enjoy very much:biggthumpup:

Back to tubbies for $20!!!!!!!!! who's in!!!!!!! j/K

and there's also a similar difference between a WF hood and a 24-7 carbon hood. WDK may be taking business away from others, but don't forget that he's also creating a ton of new business from people that have no intention of ever spending $700+ on a hood. I think that in general it's a good thing because he's bringing new people into the world of aftermarket components. Capitalism is a beautiful thing and it works perfectly 99.9% of the time.

That's your Wal-mart mentallity right there! I'll take the 10 hood for $600 please! cause that will be less fiberglass fumes I gotta smell and inhale and maybe a few less nights of scratching!:skull2:

Waterfreak,
please don't take me the wrong way.

I think your hood is one of the best looking ones out there and when I will finally get a round nose it will be on top of my shopping list.

This whole discussion started with tubbies which I think are some what overpriced, that's all.

that's great and dandy, but put yourself on the other side of the fence! What if you have a used Wammer or Blowsion hood your looking to sell. I don't think you'll ever get anything more than $200 for it now cause for $400you get a new WD one.

Personally, anybody that has no intention on ever spending more than $700 on a hood kit or whatever else is in the "wrong" sport. That's probably the best $700 you can spend to better your ski's looks and performance.
Maybe we should pressure Lamey to cut his prices by 50% , do you think he would do it? What about cylinder porting for 50% less etc...etc...will that bring more people in the sport or hurt our industry by hurting the already existing bussiness.

We wont have to pressure him...With the release of the billet 1200 it is going to make the Lamey obsolete! :Banane01:

that mentality right there is the kind that could keep this sport on the edge of obscurity for ever.

Can you please elaborate a bit more there! How does it keep "our sport" obscure?

How about all of those used "B" pipes for $500 and new ones for $650. Has this price prevented anybody from having it or wanting it? Maybe we can blame FP for taking our sport down into the dark abyss!:cool2:

I guess if waterdawg is a quality product, him selling it for 399 is a great deal. Either companies are going to cut their prices, or sell way less hoods. Everyone that has one has complimented it. I guess time will tell if they hold up or not.

I'm definitely not bashing a product, or a walmart mentality. i buy a product based on quality, not price. If the quality is high, and the price is low, then why pay for a more expensive hood with the same quality?

That's a matter of opinion. The price of a product is not the sum of the market value of its ingredients.
Tubbies [insert any other quality product] are a fantastic handling modification for many skis.
Was it worth 279 + shipping to me? You bet.
Would I take them for $20.

Sure. I'd also take a brand-new SX-R for $30, please.

Just remember when you sell 10 hoods you only have 10 customers. When Jeff sells 50 hoods, he has 50 customers. Those customers come back and buy more and more of his products. All at a rate of 5x more than the low production theory. Walmart logic's not so dumb. I don't know about you but I'd rather have a customer base of 500 over 100.
