okay i'm going to be building a motor for my square. yes i said it!what kind of power can i expect out of these two similar setups. just give your best opinions i know no one has a dyno in there head i just want a general idea.

Give me your guestimated horsepower rating for these 3 options.

701 62t
freestyle port
lightened stock flywheel
high comp head Maybe 185-190psi(But i still want to run pump gas so not too high.)
cdi advance module
B pipe limited
ATP single carb manifold
48MM tlr carb

#2
701 61x
freestyle port
lightened stock flywheel
high comp head Maybe 185-190psi(But i still want to run pump gas so not too high.)
cdi advance module
B pipe limited
ATP single carb manifold
48MM tlr carb

#3

701 62T 61X
freestyle port
lightened stock flywheel
high comp head Maybe 185-190psi(But i still want to run pump gas so not too high.)
cdi advance module
B pipe limited
ATP single carb manifold
48MM tlr carb

we'll start here i'll add another setup as we go based on suggestions,

if you have any suggestions let me know i want to do this on a budgete so i will be peiceing it togather. i already have that carb and want to run a single so keep that in mind.

If you can get a 61X cylinder you would be better off, but with what you have, the T Cylinder ported will have good mid to top power.
you would be happy with it.

also what about this

701 61x
freestyle port
lightened stock flywheel
high comp head Maybe 185-190psi(But i still want to run pump gas so not too high.)
cdi advance module
B pipe limited
ATP single carb manifold

How much difference am i going to notice in the 2? i will like to build a 62t 61x when money allows.

A properly ported 61x/61x will hit very good for what you're after. I'm not a fan of single carbs like many, but the power you have there is definately enough for a nice roll on flatwater.

I think that motor would be very reliable, punch it out a few mm's if the funds allow it.

i just dont feel i will gain enough bottem end for duals to justify the cost off GOOD duals that is. Mybe when i'm bat POOP rich.

when I went to the duals from the single conversion the power was much more solid, more pull in the mid. The single was really twitchy. I like both, but prefer the duals.

Now for Gil to get flamed again

If u already have

62T cases
61X cylinder
oem dual 38's on oem maniflod and reeds and flame arrestor
ADA girdled head w/33cc domes
B pipe w/mod chamber
X metal waterbox
front and rear exhaust
Jetworks Pro flow control valve
12/16 or 12/17 prop
Wet wolfe stubby cone

Now

Call LPW and he will bore your exit nozzle to 85mm, port your cylinders, match your head pipe and manifold, lighten your stk flywheel and give u jets and specs for your carbs.

I loved his 701 set up soo much-I want another one. Ask ginoneworleans or yz250fpilot about theirs.

Super reliable and crazy snappy/strong right off the bottom. AND CHEAP !!!

To run a single carb on T cases is pointless IMO. If your hell bent on the 62t cases pick up a set of 38's on ebay. If you want to run a single carb get 61x or 6m6 cases with stock reeds and run them with a stock 44. Spend the money you save on t cases, a special carb, and that fancy manifold on an advent and run higher compression. As for the cylinder if you want smooth useable power get a 62t; if you want it to be like a light switch get the 61x.

Definite props go to Paul on his reliable and strong 701 porting. I don't know about the (loud azz) x-metal waterbox and front exhaust tho. I am running a FP waterbox with rear exhaust only on that LPW boat.

Always On
Dang hijacked by LPW lovers again :pokey:

I think you should go 62t/61x also I ran straight 61x motor until 3 yrs ago. I'd have to say the bottom end is more crisp and direct on the 62t bottom. Also dual 44's aren't that bad. Buy them and have them converted to blackjacks or call Art think he still has a few pairs for sale
