Just curious to see how much others spend on this sport in relation to what they make. No need to list actual figures, just divide it out and post a percent.

Estimate the total amount you have tied up in your current collection of skis and parts. Use the amount you paid, not retail or what you think it's worth now. Exclude things like oil, gas, registration, insurance and regular maintenance and repairs. Other than your ski(s), include all upgraded/extra parts (on ski or on shelf), gear, specialty tools, and trailers/stands/carts. No need to split hairs unless you want to, just a down and dirty estimate is fine.

Divide that by your current household income (pre-tax). If you still live with your parent their income does not count but a spouse's does.

So: ( Total spent on current ski(s) / Yearly Income ) * 100 = ?

Poll coming...

I just counted how much my driveline setup was. The hull is basically trash anyways.

In my standups and X2, almost nothing when compared to my couch.
I need to make a list and sell off some of that stuff since I doubt I will ever use it.

I just figured in what I spent on parts last year and what I spent in hull and paint this year plus a little more for carts, stands, lifts, etc. and it's a little over 10%. It sounds scary but I figure I'm just estimating the ski and equipments total worth right now but the parts were spread over a couple years.

The scary part is I burned through about $20-$30 in gas for the jetski alone every weekend.

PS - Gil...$80 on spark plugs every year???

I support my habit lately by selling off all the remnants of prior years purchases. The only money that comes from our personal accounts is travel money for fuel and lodging when we travel to ride. I operate my jetski fund like a business and for the last year it's been self sustaining.
