Nice!

Well I thought about finding one and getting it shipped to me, the only prob is that I would like to see it personaly, and check it out. This one seems to be nice but it would be a 1 day and 11 hour drive non stop.

What do you guys think?

I'm in Markham/Toronto area - that looks like a nice ski! Not sure what year it is and how many hours on it. But like everyones saying - you really can't go wrong with a SJ. I had a Mod'd 650sx for 4 yrs - picked up an 07 last fall from Pittsburg. Already partially Mod'd - really lucked out but those deals are far and few in between and don't exist up here in Canada.

I like this one your lookign at.

Untill I got my buddy to buy a ski I was the only person around with a stand up, lots of people have tome me they have never seen on in real life!!:eek2:

I know that an Sj might make for a better freestyle machine after some mods, but without them I hear that they are kind of a big turd!?! I want to have a fun ride right out of the box, and I wont be able to afford many mods right away, so becasue of that I may go SXR. . . the mods that i will do are: new bars, grips, D cut the ride plate(may make a mold and make a few different ride plates out of carbonfiber) some flame arrestors, scoop grate, new reeds, smaller head gasket, switch to a primer rather then a choke, add some water bypass fittings in, smaller pump cone, foot holds and hydro turf.

Some of my resaons for going Kawasaki is:
There is a dealer 20 min from my house that can get me parts if anything goes wrong.
There are alot of kawasaki guys that race around here that I just found out about, and they will be a wealth of knowledge.
I can't find any SJ within driving distance other then 08's.
No dealers here to get yamaha parts from.
No one to get advise/help on the yamaha's around here.(other then this forum)
I have never ridden a SJ, not sure what they ride like.
I have ridden my buddies SXR and like how it rides.

Any flaws in this?? I am posting this up to get opinions, so don't hold back!

Thnx for all the responces once again, this board is much more active then many others I have been on. Some others I have had to wait 2 weeks to get this many responces, thnx

If you like how the SXR rides, by all means get it!

The SJ needs only an impeller and a different intake grate right off the bat.
The dealer concerns are semi-valid.

Even though I have a Yamaha dealer in town, I NEVER deal with them. They don't have the parts I need, anyways.
I order online, and I guarantee that your dealer will be more expensive than online stores.
So don't necessarily let the dealer (or lack thereof) hold you back.

if your rideing flatwater youd be much happier buying a superjet if you were gonna buy an 08 you can afford to buy a fully modded used boat youll prob order all parts online anyway dealers never have anything in stock and prices are high and you can fly on a plane to look at what ever you need to look at cheaper than driving a long distance sxrs are too heavy for flat water

Listen up, grammatical catastrophe, SX-Rs aren't too heavy for flat water. They are a different ride altogether: Heavier, more power, harder biting, and nose down.

My Yamaha dealer didn't know what a SuperJet was.

turnagainhardcore,

I would keep an eye out in states across the border from you (Montana, Idaho, Washington) for a used superjet. You'll get a much better deal down there, and its quite easy bringing it back over the border (just pay the tax). I would look on craigslist an ebay, and see if any others on this forum or pwctoday have anything to offer.

I got mine in Buffalo a year ago this past september, and it was quite hassle-free. Anyway, I would advise against rushing to buy a newer ski (and also driving to ON to buy one here), it would be a waste of money...there are deals out there, just gotta wait for the right one.

Toronto boyz - I don't know how I haven't met any of you out on the water, but we should organize a meet-greet-ski-beers for the beginning of the season...

I have been lookin on craigs list, never really thought of ebay. I just talk to my bro and he thinks he will be going down to the states to buy a truck soon, so if that is the case then we can fly down together, pick up his truck, pick up my ski, and then drive em both back. But still have not found anything used that I would really like that isn't from Cali or Florida. The plan has been to go over the border all along, its just can't find any used ones close enough. and I'm partly sketchy about getting one with alot of engine work done to it, because they are 2 strokes and lots of mods can make them a bit finicky, and I deffinatly don't want to buy someone elses problems. The other thing that has come to mind it that if I think I find one and drive down to get it and it turns out to be a dud, then I would have to drive home empty handed, and do all that work for nothing. If I could find two or more in the same area and then I would feel a bit easier about getting a used one, and maybe even drive further to get one.

In craigs list this is all that showed up that would even be alright I guess. what are your thoughts on these.
The first two are five hours away from each other so going to look at both really is not an option

Don't be afraid of buying one sight unseen. If the seller sends you a ton of pictures and walks around the ski with you on the phone a few times describing the thing there is nothing that would surprise you when you got there. You will find the right one if you wait a while. But I would shoot for an older one to save some money they are all the same ski from 96 and up.

I had an 01 SJ not reinforced that I tried to kill I rode it hard. I nose stabbed that thing a billion times and attempted to roll it half that much and it never had a stress crack anywhere when I got rid of it in 06. And it seen it's share of air time. The river barges throw off some HUGE rollers. So like Matt (I think) said don't be too anxious to reinforce.

Ok I ride an SXR and I'm saying to get a SJ for the style of riding you are looking for. You will nedd the same cost parts for a SJ and SXR, but a impeller for the SJ, that is the only difference. Dealer smealer, who cares. If you are going to ride hard, you will learn how to work on it, and the X will show you how and where to get the parts and at a much better price than a dealer. I know I bought mine new at a dealer, for the same reasons you are talking about.
