Wha Wha Wha!!

Ok I ride an SXR and I'm saying to get a SJ for the style of riding you are looking for. You will nedd the same cost parts for a SJ and SXR, but a impeller for the SJ, that is the only difference. Dealer smealer, who cares. If you are going to ride hard, you will learn how to work on it, and the X will show you how and where to get the parts and at a much better price than a dealer. I know I bought mine new at a dealer, for the same reasons you are talking about.

There you go - A Kawi rider suggesting the SJ is the way to go. I rode Kawi 650sx for a few years and have ridden an SXR. Switched over to new 07 SJ - its totally different and ya not nearly as 'easy' to ride as a SXR. As a SJ rider - if you just want outa the box and you don't plan on any mods - then I'd say go with the SXR for ease of ride/stability. BUT if you think you might like to do something to it in the future go with SJ - Like everyone says - forget about the dealership. My buddy owns a Yamaha dealership here and I don't buy parts from him at cost plus 5%:shhh:.

If you like how the SXR rides, by all means get it!

The SJ needs only an impeller and a different intake grate right off the bat.
The dealer concerns are semi-valid.

Even though I have a Yamaha dealer in town, I NEVER deal with them. They don't have the parts I need, anyways.
I order online, and I guarantee that your dealer will be more expensive than online stores.
So don't necessarily let the dealer (or lack thereof) hold you back.

exactly! nicely put. I never go to a yamaha dealer, or even my car dealer. It is web sites all the way. I get all the gaskets and parts from right here, members off the x!:bigok:

I wish the 08's had the rumored 800 or fuel injection, the 701 seems too powerless. What type of impeller seems to work best? has anyone tried out many parts on the 08 yet? I am starting to think that I will spend alittle more money and slowly mod up a new one, I know a used one could save me lots of money but, I just sold a bunch of **** and so I think it will be worth the peace of mind. The way I understand it the motor is the same so parts will be transferable right.

The power difference between SX-R and Superjet is close to nil due to the weight difference.
Yes, SX-R has more power, but the power to weight ratio is probably pretty close to the same.

Well I think I am going to drive to Seattle and pick up a 08 SJ, sold my quad/sled truck deck today and said **** it, I'm going new. thnx for all the help guys!!!

When i buy mods what ones wont transfer over to the new mdle year? I assume stuff for the hull. Will scoop grates and ride plates still be the same even though they are moved back a few inches?

Thnx again
