Super Jet What would you do?

Again it is a used motor if I was to buy it I would still do a full rebuild on it before it went into my ski. But that's me do it right the first time.
Doing it right is not getting a SBT motor, you might end up with :):):):)tier cases or cylinders then what you had to begin with. If you can get a used motor with good compression and a clean crank, whos to say it wont last as long

Depends on the intended use. IMHO, there is absolutely nothing wrong with an SBT motor for recreational use.
Yeah, their case halves probably are not matching - but I've never seen that to be a problem in their motors and I've installed a few.
And I really don't know how an SBT rebuilt cylinder could be :):):):)tier in any way than a "regular" used cylinder. They don't take ported or decked cylinders and if the sleeves are bad, they get replaced.
I've personally installed SBT motors in Seadoos, Kawis, Yamaha's, and Polaris' over the past five years. Not a single one came back to me.

I wouldn't use an SBT motor as the base for a performance build, sure. But for recreational use, the ease and affordability of an SBT shortblock is pretty tough to beat.

PS: And if it does blow, you have a 1 year no-fault warranty.

I had some bad luck with them on a seadoo motor, the cases they used were complete junk and would blow out base gaskets until i had the cases repaired

Oh, I forgot to add something about "ease" - if you're doing a Kawi motor (or anything using studs), it can be a real pain in the ass. Their motors don't include studs, so you need to pull them from the core engine.

Being in Edmonton Alberta Canada with economy booming the way it is. Boring and honing a used cylinder costs around 100 a hole because I phoned around. Buy the time I buy an ship this part and buy and ship that part whats an extra 100 bucks to have it built for me. Waverunners start around 2000 and only go up so going a 701 that route isn't worth it and then I still have to rebuild a motor because a used motor is still a used motor. If I went the jetmanic route and bought a 718 can I even run it with a single carb? I only play on flat water and the wake from my buddies supreme wake/surf boat. From the riding I did do on it even with a worn out poor running motorI was happy with the power. My ski is piped and also has a hooker prop and a mild scoop intake grate I also know when I get together with xjcrawler and truerider411 and friends. At some point I will take one of there skis for a rip and that will be the start of building a custom ski or buying one because they are becoming more common on the used market around here.

my top end with pistons and rings .. a hone should do it so on top of that you would only need a few gaskets .. its actually my sons top end i can aski him if he will do 120 plus 20 more to ship ..

i dont know why your so worried about it being a "used engine" yes its a used engine .. if you want new its is WAY more
..
no matter which route you go it is not going to be free !

If possible, avoid riding other peoples stuff. Its great fun and all, but then your hands are tied. Holding off on the credit card gets tenfold more difficult. Each time I try someone elses ski it costs me around $100.

Do not put money into a 650, ive learned from my friends that the money they put into 650 rebuilds you can buy a clean 701 even with duak 44s on occasion.

go to new posts right now, yami rider is selling a 701 61x/62T motor for $500 shipped to lower 48, so youd have to pick up shipping but with $200 you save you can get a nice ADA head. go that route. also knowing that yami rider is reliable and wouldnt sell a hunk of frozen metal to you

Ended up going with a complete convert from a 650 to a 701 setup from jetmanic with a freshly honed and painted 701 cylinder jets case sealant gaskets crank ect. So all I gotta do is build it and hopefully my motor will be good for years to come. Thanks Chris.

Ditch that tired 650 and either buy and kill a couch for cheap or buy a jet maniac motor. You will not be disappointed
