my wife says "life is short, your 43 years old, get a new ski that you like."

I have been learning to ride, and enjoying my 2001 kawi 750 sxi pro for two years and improve each time i go out on the lake. I have never ridden a new sxr or a super jet, but have the idea they are easier. I am getting frustrated with the handle bars bouncing into my chest, and it kicking out when i turn.

Do you guys think i'm better off playing with ride plates, tubbies, and footholds on what i have, or getting a new ski? , and if new what? kawi or yamaha for carving turns on calm lakes.

Hey i am 42 and started with a js550 20 years ago then a 650 then a 750.....my 750 had light flywheel limited mods tubbies and killer grate and plate fast as HELL! but
then i got my first superjet it was a 2000 RN b-pipe etc for flat water carving and just all aroung fun as heck to ride Nothing ride like the SJ i know have a 2004 black with Rivia RPM kit
and will keep it till i can not stand anymore:)

That would be my first move, ride a couple other skis. I don't care for how stable the SXR is, but its great for carving. Just very long IMO, course, I rid a FX1 with 3" chopped off the front LOL.

My point is that it would be best for you to take a spin on a couple other skis before making a decision. Most stand up riders will let you take a spin as long as you know what your doing.
I've never ridden a 750sxi... so I can't speak to what you will find.

Defiantly ride a couple of different skis to see which one fits your riding style, one size does not fit all !

to me it sounds like your an sxr candidate, but then thing change as your skill level increases and your desires will change so buy both !

I currently have both an SXR and a pre 08 SJ. I also used to have a SXI pro and I have spent a little time on an 08 SJ and NOTHING carves flat smooth water like the SXR. That being said that’s ALL the SXR can do. The 08 SJ will carve almost as good and can be set up as a decent freestyle ski in the future if you decide to go that route. Best advice, no matter what it takes, find and ride both (Ideally would be a side to side comparison) before you buy

If you are carving go with the sx-r, superjets can be fun cause they are light and make mediocre power but to me they are just blah...a few simple handling mods and the sx-r can be a lot better freeride ski than most people make it out to be. An sx-r with a pipe, head, and lightened flywheel will absolutely eat a superjet with the same mods....superjets give up 80cc's right from the start. I have ridden many variations of both ski's and I can honestly say there is no way I would own a superjet. I like the weight and agility, but not the tiny tray and weak motor. Sure superjets make big power with strokers and such but they also cost big coin.

If you're in Minneapolis do yourself a favor and get down to Lake City, MN this weekend for the TC Jetpilots annual "Sortie" freeride. There will be plenty of ski's around and i'm sure you'll be able to find a few ppl willing to let you test ride.

Here is a link with some info. http://www.pwctoday.com/f89/finally-official-2011-twin-city-jet-pilots-sortie-thread-326570.html
Plus, one of the best places on earth to be is at a freeride :smoker:
