Just this really. Don't go to truck school. Just take your written....then get with a driver and practice a bit and go over the mechanical.

Then go take the driver test with that driver.

I would only drive specialized/flatbed if I were you but most people will disagree with me! Flat bed work can be friggin dangerous and requires the ability physical unlike many truckers you will see. LOL.

Yeah I've already found out schools are mostly a joke, but I need a rig to take test in and practice. The mechanical checks I know most of already and what I don't wouldn't be hard to learn. I've driven a few over he years just never been legal :)
There are a crap done of jobs out there and a lot of local work here. Hopper bottoms for grain and flatbreads for steel. Most claim otr is where the money is, but there is a lot of five and take on that side to. For now staying local would be my best option and get plenty of experience that way. Lots of farmers all around me and a grain port a mile from my house.
