Just entered the next chapter in Manhood. Hobart 190 mig, aluminum spool gun. 2 tanks, welding table, and gear.

I really like my MIG setup but I can see now where TIG would have been a much better choice.

Having both would be ideal but now that I’ve finished up all my big projects, I think TIG would be far more practical to have around.

Mig is my beginner setup. Before this I’ve only stick welded while drinking with friends.

Right now I have several steel projects on my plate. Mostly trailer, but also some chromoly ATV projects.

I might make some ski hitch haulers... depends on the need.

With the spool gun I should be fine with basic aluminum projects. If I outgrow the mig any time I can always sell and get ac tig later.

I only have one aluminum project right now; that’s a beach cart frame.

I’ve owned it over a year and only used it three times. Hoping to play with it a bit more. Never seem to have enough time

Nice looking welders guys! :) I also just got a cheap TIG AC/DC 210 amp tig, it works really nice and for the price i wish i saw this 5 years ago.
But being a guy that likes nice tools and tech stuff, i saw a tig welder that had some extra functions ( pretty similar to the everlast) when all the diffrent AC wave forms and combinded AC-DC welding. Anyway, i havent welded to much this past 2 months, so i told my self, if i really got my current (new) welder to use, i might be able to defend buying the nicer one hahahaha.
So i also bought a footpedal for y current welder and a pyrex gas lens kit. i havent got to try any of them yet. lol

I did some basic spool gun aluminum welding today for the first time ever. Results look a little goofy. Penetration is good though. Surprisingly easy. With more practice and materials I might try finishing up a beach cart.

Did you wipe down with acetone before welding? Cleaned the metal very well?
