A quick photo from last nights build session. I am building a Moni motorglider right now. Just finished prepping the wing spars.

I noticed some gunk on my fuel tank and have been having a weird tuning issue. As I scraped away powdercoating I found this lovely surprise. Looks like they burned through at the factory.

I am amazed you didn't have stalling/power issues. On the 4 stroke runabouts that KILLS power after running for any amount of time since your engine is breathing it's own farts.

He may have had enough incoming air to not choke it out as bad, but enough to make tuning all wonky. On my old SJ I had a small exhaust leak that combined with the early model Wammer Hood that did not breathe well had my ski choking down.

I did have power issues, it was getting progressively worse. The hole was almost completely unnoticeable except for the bit of sludge on the tank, it wasn't until I started probing it that it opened up like that.

Free horsepower is never a bad thing. Hopefully this gets you fixed up.

Side note, this is part of the reason I hate powder coating on marine stuff. It is all too common for it to cover up imperfections that will fail down the road or allow corrosion to happen underneath the coating only to have it sheet off later.
