Need to change that ceiling fan and fireplace grill out to match and hang blinds but that is when I get some spare cash. We have been doing almost all of it with cash as we can. Except the bathroom fixtures. I swiped that on a 0% interest for 18 month card at Home Depot for about $3,000.

Hoping to get the house re-assessed in a year or so and get rid of this PMI I've been paying @130 a month.

A bigger tv(60 vs. 40), gas fireplace and a built in mantle a bit lower than the current one is in the two year plan. Just fresh out of cash at the moment.

I was looking at your mantle and thinking the same thing...that is a neck breaking angle. You have done an amazing job! I'm buying a house next year and know I will be doing a ton of projects myself. Thanks for the inspirations. I love the hard wood and wainscoting!

Strong work all around. I like it. Totally not suggesting u change the fireplace brick...cuz I like brick, but as a side note I'm about to tackle a project at our house with this stuff.

Gonna take out the travertine tile, hearth, and old school mantle and panel it up (18' ceiling) and add a thick azz beam for a mantle

My wife really wanted to paint the brick. I convinced her to leave it alone because I really don't want to be stripping white paint off it in ten years when white brick is out of style.

Unfortunately we do use the real fireplace and anything lower than the current mantel built out of wood is a no no IMO.

However a nice new gas fireplace (with a remote, no more splitting wood!) doesn't emit the heat and smoke right above it like this one so I can build something lower.

I will probably build something like this once I do the fireplace.

Bruce I have some ventless gas logs I could sell you pretty cheap. Set up for propane now but moneson brand thermostat controlled and can use natural gas with orifice change.

No thanks Matt. This room is an extension off the original house. Single story with a Shingled roof right above this with its own chimney separate from the chimney my boiler and hot water heater use. Should be an easy run to pipe in a vented gas insert. Maybe 12 feet to top cap of chimney?

Plus I have a hookup in the family with a warehouse full of gas fireplaces so I can get one cheap.
