Didn't you guys go big on stocking snow blowers this year too?
Yes we sure did. But we got a really solid snowfall and people absolutely freaked out a couple? months ago and we sold a ton. Then it got so dry and warm that we literally ran out of repairs and almost had to lay off all mechanics. Next day, we got a few inches of snow, took in about 75 repairs, and sold a good bit of inventory. We still have some inventory to sell but we've had worse years.
I will say.. Snowstorms in our business are so much fun. Keep in mind, we have less than a 15 person crew. We get 30+ people lining up out the door for most of the day , and everybody is in a panic to buy a snowblower, huge tractor, etc. or get theirs fixed. And our whole crew is constantly setting up blowers in the back of the shop, and then others are hauling back and forth to our warehouse when we run out of certain models.
Winter isn't consistent like green season business, but the mad rush of chaos that comes with snowstorms in our line of work can be exhilarating. Pretty much the only time I love my job. And we love the heavy, wet, thick snow.. People tend to break things more easily in it
