I've been wanting to get a bike like those, what's a good starter bike

You think riding ski's is expensive... i just dropped 3200 on my trek fuel ex 8.7 aluminum frame.. But i do ride 2-3 times per week so it was worth having a good bike. Buying used is a joke especially when you start riding hard because you are picking up someone's left over crap that they bashed on and you will end up spending too much to fix it. Bikes do not hold their value well. I suggest going for something entry level like a Trek Fuel ex 7 if you want full suspension. I was a specialized guy until i rode a trek and boy was i wrong. Trek's are great bikes and it has yet to let me down. Also much more affordable and better customer service.

This was the start of the trail of posed earlier.

What ever you can find for about $1,200.00!!!!!!!! Seriously, If you are going to ride, get the most bike you can, otherwise you will be wanting to spend money upgrading parts. Best to buy a bike with everything on it you want.

I wish I could have bought something for 1200! my first bike was an 06 specialized stumpjumper i bought 4 years ago for 900 and it just fell apart :/
