My daughter is moving out today to start her life in Orlando. Definitely a bitter sweet day.
I hated Orlando and couldn’t get out fast enough. I’d rather live in the sticks so that’s a little biased. I hope your daughter has a better experience than I did. But orange blossom trail can kiss my brown eye. I love just about the entire rest of Florida though.

I lived in O-town in 99-2000 when I went to MMI. It has definitely changed a lot since then. Mainly population. Did live in a nicer section near Universal studios. But I was 19-20 years old from a quiet winter beach town in jersey. It was awesome to be on my own for the first time. There was things always to do at any time. Didn’t have to worry about getting gas before 8pm bc the station closed. Had a awesome job at Lake Bunuea Vista Watersports driving a ski boat and doing ski rentals. Cowboys Orlando on Thursdays, riding bmx in St. Cloud (awesome family sport). Got to ride my first stand up (96 SJ) in a lake in the city area. Also at my work, Seadoo had their dealershow that year at our location. Rode all the new 2000 skis and hang out with the SD people. Was offered a job with SD but I turned it down at the time bc I had intentions to go back to school for a degree. Kinda kick myself in the butt.

I was there 06-08ish going to MMI. It was cool for a week. I lived in Kissimmee technically. Which is kind of funny. I lived about 15 minutes from blue in St. Cloud and I had my first square nose and now we take trips down to his house to ride and I didn’t know him when I lived down there.
I hated the city, I’m not a person whos big in going out on the town, so most of Orlando’s attractions weren’t for me.
People were like Yankees. No manners and it seemed like the Puerto Rican population didn’t care for white people.
I don’t even want to go back to take my kid to Disney world. Luckily my mom wants to take him and I don’t have to go.

We feel the same way about Charleston and Savannah. There's a million things to do around both cities and we couldn't care less for most of them. We live on the outskirts to get the benefits of the amenities without the "culture", traffic and crowds.

We'd move to Alaska in a heartbeat but you'd have to drag us kicking and screaming into Florida.

Her brother is going to UCF which is only 10 minutes from her apartment so I know there is someone close by if she needs anything. As a very protective dad that makes me feel a lot better. We live in a small town with really nothing to offer and honestly I’d be pissed if they didn’t move to a larger city to make a good life for themselves. They both seem to love Orlando but we’ll see how it goes.
